10 Best Marvel Movie & TV Show Quotes Of 2024

Marvel had a relatively quiet year in 2024, releasing only a few movies and a handful of TV shows – though these installments have provided a range of excellent quotes for the franchise. Marvel’s recent releases have seen a range of successes, most notably in the MCU timeline, with Deadpool & Wolverine making over $1 billion dollars at the box office, and Agatha All Along receiving an 83% critic and audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Naturally, audiences connecting with these movies and shows hinges on the dialogue found within the stories, underlining the importance of good writing.

Marvel’s 2025 slate looks very strong, but it’s worth looking back on the great aspects of 2024. This is doubly true when factoring in the major endings and beginnings that arose during this time, with Eddie Brock and Venom completing their trilogy, while Marvel Studios successfully continued the 90s X-Men animated series with a new and already beloved reboot. Here are the ten best quotes from the various Marvel movies and television for 2024.

“To Me, My X-Men!”

Cyclops in X-Men ’97

Close

For some reason, Cyclops doesn’t seem to get the respect he deserves despite being the leader of the X-Men. That all changed right from the start of X-Men ’97, which saw Cyclops do some truly incredible things with his powers. After the Blackbird is attacked, Cyclops finds himself having to use his optic blasts to slow his descent to the ground. Upon landing, Cyclops calls out to the rest of the team with the iconic quote: “To me, my X-Men!” It’s one of the best moments in a series full of incredible moments.

Not only was the line a perfect love letter to the history of the X-Men, but it is also a fantastic way to signal that the X-Men are back and hopefully better than ever. X-Men ’97 was a continuation of the 90s classic, X-Men: The Animated Series, and the new show comes out swinging from the beginning, with Cyclops leading the way.

“They’re Gonna Make Him Do This Till He’s 90.”

Deadpool in Deadpool & Wolverine

Close

Hugh Jackman has been playing Wolverine for over two decades at this point, and effectively ended his run as the character in 2017 with Logan acting as the final send-off. Plans changed and Jackman came back to play Wolverine once again alongside Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool & Wolverine. Hugh Jackman was 56 when Deadpool & Wolverine came out, with the movie playfully joking about his time away from the role and his return to it throughout its story.

A golden opportunity to highlight how long Hugh Jackman has been playing Wolverine as well as showing how hard it is for Marvel to move on.

The meta nature of Deadpool as a character created a golden opportunity to highlight how long Hugh Jackman has been playing Wolverine, as well as showing how hard it is for Marvel to move on from his version of it. With all this in mind, Deadpool quips that Marvel Studios are “gonna make him do this till he’s 90.” It’s a great joke that could really age well if Hugh Jackman decides to return again in another project, possibly Avengers: Secret Wars.

“I Loved Being A Witch.”

Lili Calderu in Agatha All Along

Close

Right before Lilia sacrifices herself to take out the Salem Seven so that Agatha, Billy and Jennifer can continue down the Witches’ Road, she tells Jennifer that she “loved being a witch.” Not only is her imminent sacrifice a heartbreaking reveal, it is also a powerful moment of self-acceptance. Witches are the beating heart of Agatha All Along, and Lilia reminds the audience of that at her very end.

Without Lilia’s sacrifice, it is possible that the rest of the coven wouldn’t be able to complete the Witches’ Road – but more than that, it shows her willingness to accept her fate. Lilia has the power of divination and was able to see how her story would end. She embraced it while trying to help the other members of the coven continue on their journey.

“I’m So Done With This Multiverse Sh**!”

Venom in Venom: The Last Dance

Close

Venom: Let There Be Carnage ended with Eddie and Venom being transported to the MCU, but were quickly brought back to their own universe at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home. In fact, Venom: The Last Dance kicks off with Eddie and Venom still in the MCU only to be brought back to their current universe, a short-lived stint in the multiverse. When they are brought back, Venom exclaims, “I’m done with this multiverse sh**!”

Of course, this is just a silly joke, but it can also speak to the broader audience regarding the current comic book landscape. In some respects, the multiverse has pervaded superhero movie storytelling with a few years left with it as the focus, at least for the MCU. What was once thought of as something that could make anything possible is now viewed with a little less boundless optimism, making Venom’s quote a reflect of the changing attitude towards the story convention.

“I Am Trying To Be Better, Do Not Make Me Let You Down.”

Magneto in X-Men ’97

Close

X-Men ’97 takes Magneto in a number of interesting directions during the first season, but it was a moment in episode 2 that showed just how incredible of a character he really is. After being attacked by X-Cutioner at his trial, Magneto uses his power to lift the judges and X-Cutioner high into Earth’s atmosphere, hiding the tears in his eyes as he shows everyone what he is capable of. Still, he doesn’t kill them, trying to live up to Xavier’s ideals. Instead, he gives them a warning by saying, “I am trying to be better, do not make me let you down.”

Not only is this one of the best lines in all of X-Men ’97, it’s also a great play on words, as Magneto has the power to just let them fall to their deaths if he so chooses in this scene. They are at his complete mercy at that moment and he understands this. Still, he chooses to be better, which marks a key moment for his character.

5

“You Were Always The Wrong Guy.”

Laura in Deadpool & Wolverine

Close

Logan’s relationship with Laura was the beating heart of Logan, and it was heartbreaking to see the father and daughter part following his death. It gave Jackman’s character another purpose in his life and he died protecting those he cared about. With the X-Men Fox franchise in limbo during their last few years, it was unclear if Laura would ever return in a film. Thankfully, Deadpool & Wolverine managed to bring her back into the fold.

Laura is in the same universe as Jackman’s Wolverine at the end of Deadpool & Wolverine, making it a possibility she could return to the MCU eventually.

This is a different Wolverine than Laura had known, but it’s clear that much about the two characters is similar to her. Before the climactic battle with Cassandra Nova in the Void, Laura and Logan sit down to talk, and he airs out his trepidation. Their conversation ends with Laura telling him, “You were always the wrong guy.” A lot of times that was true for Logan over the years, but Laura understands that he still did what he had to do, no matter what he thought of himself.

“Am I William Or Am I Billy?”

Wiccan in Agatha All Along

Close

Though Agatha Harkness is the main focus of Agatha All Along, it is Billy Maximoff’s return to the MCU that really drives the plot forward throughout the series. During the series, it is explained that Billy’s soul inhabited the body of William Kaplan as soon as he died, which allowed him to come back to life himself, this time in the body of William instead. This idea is a propelling force for Billy throughout.

Agatha All Along’s controversial ending was certainly unusual, but I’m glad that Jac Schaeffer managed to pull it off according to recent comments.

“Am I William or am I Billy?” he asks Lilia during the Tarot card trial. When Billy inhabited the soul of William, he also took on his memories and essentially became him. This idea that he is at odds with who he truly is, having to reconcile two different lives, gets highlighted when he asks this question. He just wants to better understand who he is, and one of the reasons he goes on the Witches’ Road is to get answers.

“I Thought We Were Going To Be The Lethal Protector? We Are. That’s What This Is.”

Eddie and Venom in Venom: The Last Dance

Close

The Venom trilogy has largely succeeded off of the chemistry of Tom Hardy as both Eddie Brock and Venom. Audiences have seen these characters grow together, and sometimes apart, over the course of three films and towards the end of Venom: The Last Dance, things start to get a bit emotional. When Eddie and Venom start to realize that this is most likely the end, they don’t want it to be. Eddie asks Venom, “I thought we were going to be the lethal protector?” Of course, Venom tries to reassure Eddie in response, saying “We are. That’s what this is.”

Venom: Lethal Protector was a 90s limited comic run that featured Venom as the main character.

Not only is “lethal protector” a callback to the title of Venom’s first solo comic book run, but this exchange sums up everything that fans have grown to love about these two characters. They really did try their best despite being in incredibly challenging circumstances. It is an emotional moment that highlights just how good Tom Hardy can be in any role he takes on.

2

“The Name’s Gambit, Mon Amis. Remember It.”

Gambit in X-Men ’97

Close

Arguably the greatest episode in X-Men ’97 was episode 5, “Remember It.” Genosha is featured heavily in this episode, and the climax features one of the most emotional moments when Gambit attempts to take out a Sentinel attacking the island, sacrificing himself in the process. Before his sacrifice, Gambit utters the phrase: “The name’s Gambit, mon amis. Remember it.” This moment – and the episode itself – show just how special X-Men ’97 was throughout its entire first season.

Gambit had an eventful 2024, with him being a highlight of X-Men ’97 as well as Channing Tatum finally getting the chance to play the character in Deadpool & Wolverine. Gambit has always been one of the coolest X-Men, so it is nice to see him finally get some love with two different focal takes on the character. How the MCU featured mutants in 2024 bodes well for when they officially show up in the main universe.

“For The First Time In My Life, I’m Proud To Wear This Suit. It Means I’m An X-Man. I Am The X-Man.”

Wolverine in Deadpool & Wolverine

Close

Hugh Jackman has been a staple of the comic book genre since he first appeared as Wolverine in X-Men back in 2000. He has played the character for over two decades, giving his all in the process. His Logan was constantly at odds with his place alongside the X-Men and although his iconic version died in Logan, Hugh Jackman was able to play another incredibly broken variant of Wolverine, this time complete with the comic book accurate suit. Towards the ending of Deadpool & Wolverine, Logan sums up quite perfectly everything that encompasses Jackman’s character.
