8 Spy (2015)
Directed by Jason Statham as Rick Ford
Spy was a hilarious espionage crime comedy that saw Melissa McCarthy portray a 40-year-old, single, desk-bound CIA analyst who breaks out of her boring day-to-day existence to become an actual spy. With a story about retrieving a stolen portable nuclear device, writer-director Paul Feig got plenty of laughs out of this well-worn concept and showcased Jason Statham’s seldom-appreciated comedic talents. As Rick Ford, Statham played a grizzled CIA operative who believes himself to be flawless while he’s the one constantly making mistakes.
One of the most impressive things about Spy was the way that Statham leaned into his action hero persona for maximum comedic effect and it was enjoyable to watch him make fun of himself in this manner. Spy has plenty of potential for a sequel and Feig even said in 2015 that he had started writing one (via Guardian.) While this has yet to materialize, it would be incredible to see Statham reprise this uniquely hilarious character.

7 Homefront (2013)
Jason Statham as Phil Broker
Homefront was an action movie that had serious potential as a franchise starter from Jason Statham and Sylvester Stallone. However, this adaptation of a novel by Chuck Logan made the fatal mistake of basing its screenplay on the final entry in a long-running series that could have carried many movies starring Statham as the retired DEA agent Phil Broker. While the finality of Homefront made a sequel unlikely from the start, the wealth of material from Logan means there’s a lot of potential to turn it into a series in the form of prequels.
Homefront’s underwhelming critical reception also meant a follow-up movie was unlikely, which was a real shame as it acted as an enjoyable homage to classic action thrillers of the past. While screenwriter Stallone and its star Statham continued working together on The Expendables series, it would be nice to also see them flesh out Broker’s world even further. Currently, there are no plans for a Homefront sequel, but with a back catalog filled with incredible action movies, this would be a great one to return to.

6 The Beekeeper (2024)
Jason Statham as Adam Clay
See more : Mayim Bialik Height How Tall is Mayim Bialik?
The Beekeeper was an excellent franchise starter for Jason Statham that could easily lead to many excellent sequels and spin-off movies. As Adam Clay, Statham played a former Beekeeper operative brought out of retirement to take down a criminal organization after his kindhearted landlady fell victim to a sinister phishing scam. This instigating event led to many awesome Beekeeper scenes that saw Statham’s enemies attacked by swarms of bees and even being catapulted off a bridge.
The rich worldbuilding of The Beekepeer introduced a fascinating underworld of special operatives and, similar to the John Wick franchise, hinted at a rich mythology that’s begging to be explored in future installments. As a no-nonsense action hero, Adam Clay has the potential to become a major figure in the world of action movies if follow-up films can maintain the fun energy of the original. While a sequel to The Beekeeper has not been officially announced, its smash success and $152 million at the global box office (via Box Office Mojo) mean a second film is practically a certainty.

5 Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019)
Jason Statham as Deckard Shaw
Jason Statham has certainly left his mark on the Fast & Furious franchise with his role as the former British Special Forces and MI6 mercenary Deckard Shaw. As the primary villain of Furious 7, Shaw appeared in many of the subsequent sequels and became so popular that he earned a spin-off film alongside Dwayne Johnson as Luke Hobbs. The mismatched buddy cop formula of Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw worked well and opened the door for more spin-off misadventures featuring the sinister antihero.
While there was discussion about a direct sequel featuring Statham and Johnson, these plans were later postponed as Johnson hinted at another spin-off film titled Hobbs & Reyes with Johnson and Jason Momoa set to star (via MovieWeb.) However, Statham as Shaw was central to the success of Hobbs & Shaw, and it’s important that he reprises his role in any potential sequel. As a fan-favorite character, Shaw is an important part of the Fast & Furious franchise, and it would be great to see him stick around following the main series conclusion.

6/10 Hobbs and Shaw PG-13AdventureAction
Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw unites the unlikely duo of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Luke Hobbs and Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw in the Fast Saga’s first spinoff movie. The titular anti-heroes don’t cross paths with Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto this time. Instead, they fight Idris Elba’s artificially enhanced super soldier Brixton Lore with the help of Shaw’s sister Hattie and mother Magdelene, played by Vanessa Kirby and Helen Mirren, respectively.

4 Meg 2: The Trench (2023)
Jason Statham as Jonas Taylor
The Meg franchise has been a major hit at the box office as the sequel to 2018’s The Meg took in nearly $400 million at the global box office (via Box Office Mojo.) While Meg 3 has yet to be officially announced, it would be surprising if Statham did not return as the rescue diver Jonas Taylor for yet another underwater encounter with prehistoric creatures. With awe-inspiring visuals and clear interest from audiences, The Meg franchise has showcased the viability of shark movies almost 50 years after Jaws was released.
The plot for a potential third Meg movie would likely adapt the story outlined in the original novels by Steve Alten. This would lead to a movie based on Meg: Primal Waters, which continued Taylor’s adventures as he was hired to be a consultant for a reality TV show that became plagued by megalodons. With seven novels in The Meg book series already published, this is a franchise that’s drowning in sequel potential.

3 Crank: High Voltage (2009)
Jason Statham as Chev Chelios
More so than any other film, Crank was an action movie with the look and feel of a video game as Jason Statham engaged in some Grand Theft Auto-esque carnage. As Chev Chelios, Statham portrayed a professional assassin injected with a poison that would kill him if his heart rate dropped, meaning the outrageous had to remain high from start to finish. The sequel Crank: High Voltage kept up this intensity as Chev had one hour to find a replacement heart after he had been abducted, and it was switched with an artificial one.
As a truly bonkers set of movies, it would be thrilling to see Statham play Chev one more time to complete the trilogy. The possibilities are endless for what kind of absurd set of circumstances would send Chev on yet another wild rampage as he races against the clock in a life-or-death fight for survival. Director Brian Taylor hinted at the potential for Crank 3 in a 2013 Reddit AMA, and although Statham’s career has developed a lot since then, it would still be fantastic to see him come back for one more movie.
2 Expend4bles (2023)
Jason Statham as Lee Christmas
Jason Statham solidified his role as one of modern cinema’s greatest action heroes as Lee Christmas in The Expendables franchise. As a series that has boasted appearances from action legends like Sylvester Stallone, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, and Arnold Schwarzenegger, The Expendables has always been an incredible who’s who of action movie royalty. Christmas was one of the franchise’s greatest characters, who, as a former SAS soldier with incredible hand-to-hand combat and knife-fighting skills, led to some of the franchise’s best moments.
The fourth movie in the series, Expend4bles, kept this action-packed franchise interesting as Stallone’s Barney Ross began to pass the torch of team leader to Statham’s character. This means that a fifth Expendables movie would likely feature Statham as the main star once again and showcase his increased development as the crew leader. While a sequel has yet to be announced, as one of the world’s biggest action franchises, the world has likely not heard the last from The Expendables.

1 Transporter 3 (2008)
Jason Statham as Frank Martin
The Transporter franchise was one of Jason Statham’s greatest accomplishments as an action hero and was a definitive series in his transformation into a bona fide action movie legend. As the former Special Forces operative Frank Martin, it was thrilling to watch Statham take down goons, find love, and partake in increasingly outrageous misadventures. Over the course of three films, Statham had plenty of incredible Transporter fighting scenes, and it would be thrilling to see him reprise his role in one more sequel.
While The Transporter series attempted to reboot itself with Ed Skrein in the leading role, part of the appeal of this franchise was Statham’s star power. The Transporter Refueled was released in 2015 to negative reviews, which proved the only way to bring this franchise back to its former glory was to have Statham return. It’s now been more than 20 years since Jason Statham first played Martin, and the popularity of legacy sequels like Top Gun: Maverick proved that nostalgia for the original trilogy may help make a potential Transporter 4 big hit at the box office.
