LIVEAPI UPDATES AND UPCOMING CHANGES

We are adding new gameplay event messages to LiveAPI supporting Legend Upgrades and EVO Level changes alongside improvements and bug fixes based on ongoing feedback. The schema of all events alongside technical documentation can be found in the LiveAPI folder of the game installation.

In order to better support LiveAPI 2.0, we will retire the existing file-based output in favor of the WebSockets connection interface. The file-based output will be turned off by default in a future patch and entirely removed from LiveAPI by Q3 2024. Developers should begin migrating their apps to the WebSockets interface in order to avoid disruptions.

Apex Legends gameplay revolves around high-speed multiplayer action. When you enter the game, you and your squadmates have the opportunity to choose your preferred Legends from a growing pool of 24 characters. Starting from Season 16, Legends are divided into five distinct class styles: Assault, Skirmisher, Recon, Controller, and Support, adding more diversity to the game.

The match kicks off with your squad aboard an aircraft flying across the game map. One player acts as the jumpmaster, determining when and where your squad will parachute down. However, you’re not obligated to stick together; you have the freedom to pursue your own path if desired.

Upon landing, it becomes a race to locate weapons, armor, and equipment while remaining vigilant for other squads. Apex Legends features a useful “ping system” that enables communication with your team without relying on voice chat. You can highlight directions, weapon positions, enemy sightings, and strategies, facilitating seamless teamwork.

As time progresses, the playable area in the game gradually decreases, compelling squads to come closer together and leading to intense confrontations. If you happen to be outside this zone, you’ll sustain damage and risk elimination if you fail to return promptly. The ultimate victors in each match earn the prestigious title of “Apex Champions.”

Even if you’re knocked down during gameplay, your squadmates have the opportunity to revive you. In the event of complete elimination, there’s still a chance for redemption. Your teammates can retrieve your respawn banner, which materializes at your location, and transport it to one of the island’s several beacons to reintroduce you to the action.
