In 2023, FromSoftware and Bandai Namco Entertainment released Armored Core VI: Rubicon Fire, a highly anticipated mecha-vehicle combat game. This game marks the return of the “Armored Core” series after nearly ten years, and is now available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S platforms.
Armored Core VI received positive reviews and was a huge commercial success, particularly on Windows, with 1.3 million units sold. The game’s popularity in Japan is clear, with the PlayStation 5 version becoming the best-selling retail game in its first week, selling 115,393 physical copies, while the PlayStation 4 version came in second with 47,949 copies sold.
“Armored Core 6” is set on the distant planet Rubicon 3. Players can control a customizable mech called Armored Core to perform various missions and explorations. A wide selection of parts and weapons allows players to create their own unique play style, enhancing the appeal of the game.
With fast-paced gameplay, powerful customization options, and impressive visuals, Armored Core 6: Rubicon Fire has earned a reputation as one of the best mech games of all time.

Armored Core VI focuses on intense mech-based vehicle combat, immersing players in the role of a skilled mech pilot known as Armored Core. The game places a heavy emphasis on customization, allowing players to fine-tune their mechs using a variety of parts to enhance their abilities.
One of the standout features of the game is the wide variety of weapons available for mecha weapons. With one weapon slot on each arm and two weapon slots on the back of the mech, players are free to strategically equip their mech depending on the battle scenario.
Continuing the tradition of previous games, “Armored Core VI” introduces the concept of “arena” through the “Combat Capability Assessment Plan”. Here, players can test their skills and compete with other players. Successful participation will reward players with “OS Tuning” chips, which unlock specific abilities and upgrades. Completing missions earns players in-game currency called points, the amount of which is based on the mission goal and potential deductions for unmet goals.
Unlike earlier games in the series, Armored Core VI does away with the debt system, which previously punished players by docking money for failed missions. In this installment, players can try missions as many times as they want without worrying about losing currency.
