Automobilista 2 is an immersive racing simulator developed by Reiza Studios under the leadership of Renato Simioni. The game was initially released as an Early Access version through Steam on March 31, 2020, and then the V1.0 official version was released on June 30, 2020.

The game is known for its diverse selection of cars and tracks, with a particular focus on Brazilian content, including licensed racing series such as Stock Car Brazil and Copa Truck.

The game includes Grand Prix cars from every era, as well as categories such as Retro Touring Cars, 1990s American Open Wheel Racing, GT3 and Karting, ensuring players get a rich and varied racing experience.

Built on the Madness engine from Slightly Mad Studios, famous for the Project CARS series, Automobilista 2 inherits the Seta tire model, a complex, physically based tire model that accurately simulates carcass, tread and thermal properties.

Live track 3.0 is a dynamic track surface simulation that enhances realism through replicated rubber, heating/cooling effects, and dynamic weather conditions including rain and puddles.

With significant improvements in vehicle physics, force feedback, audio and the implementation of Livetrack 3.0, Automobilista 2 delivers an immersive and realistic racing experience.

Players can even select any date and time between now and 1979 to experience realistic weather conditions that affect vehicle handling. The attention to detail extends to the foliage beside the track adjusting to the selected time. Reiza Studios has released the much-anticipated Automobilista 2 1.5.5.5 Hotfix 2 update, marking the end of the Le Mans development cycle. This final update brings enhancements to the graphics and track objects across the board, concluding the V1.5.X physics development.

Notably, AI behavior has been significantly improved, enhancing interaction with each other and with the player. In addition to the update, three new DLC packs have been released, namely the Brazilian Racing Legends, Supercars, and Historic Tracks Packs.

General

  • Added local blue flags to the track flag panel during live races
  • Fixed an issue with loading the safety car in events with flag rules disabled
  • Fixed issue with enabling FCY option when flag rules are disabled; added warning to user if flag rule setting change would introduce scheduled FCY
  • When the track is lit with yellow lights, the trackside vehicle beacon lights will flash
  • Fixed an issue where the “Close to Lead Car” timer would not work for the leading driver when the full yellow lights were on; Display the remaining time to catch up with the car ahead more quickly when the full yellow lights were on
  • Fixed an issue where the engine would always stop when pitting
  • Changed the “largest visible vehicle” algorithm to use the lap distance and weights to other vehicles in the pit when the observed vehicle is in the pit, and vice versa
