Enveloped

Enshrouded is a survival and action role-playing video game developed and published by Keen Games. The game was initially released in Early Access on Windows PC in January 2024, with the developers planning a full release in late 2024 and expanding it to Windows PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and Series S platforms.

The game provides an immersive experience in both single-player and multiplayer modes, satisfying the preferences of different players.

Enshrouded can trace its inspiration back to popular games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Valheim. While the combat mechanics are influenced by the challenging Souls games, Enshrouded intentionally strays away from extreme difficulty.

The developers designed it to be a more understandable and engaging experience, especially for players who may not be as familiar with the complexities of the survival game genre. This approach reflects the game’s commitment to providing an enjoyable and inclusive gaming experience for a diverse audience.

Stealthy Gameplay

Enshrouded is a game where you and up to 16 of your friends survive in a large world called Embervale. You build your own base, harvest resources, and craft cool gear. There’s a foggy area called “Shroud” that’s filled with scary monsters, but also awesome loot. Be careful though – stay there too long, and your character might not make it out alive.

You also have to watch out for hunger and thirst, but they only affect your performance in combat. Drinking water makes you stronger, and eating food makes you healthier. You can fight enemies with different weapons and perform cool moves like dodging and blocking.

As you progress through the game, you’ll gradually improve your combat abilities, unlock new skills, and choose to become a Trickster, Battle Mage, or Survivor. You’ll even get a glider and grappling hook to move around the world. If your character dies, don’t worry too much – your stuff will remain, you’ll just lose the raw materials you collected. It’s an adventure of exploration, combat, and survival!

Hidden Development

Enshrouded was developed by Keen Games, a German studio best known for its previous work Portal Knights, and is inspired by well-known games such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Valheim.

While the combat system borrows from the challenging “Soulsborne” game, “Enshrouded” aims to be more accessible, targeting players new to the survival genre.

The game was officially announced by Keen in May 2023, with a notable 8-hour demo available during Steam Next Fest in November 2023. Enshrouded officially entered Steam’s Early Access platform on January 24, 2024.

Additionally, versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S are currently in development.
