Chance Perdomo is best known for playing Andre Anderson in The Boys spinoff, Gen V, and as Ambrose Spellman in Netflix’s The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. He was far from limited to these two appearances though, as the American-born British actor started his career with a number of short films and children’s dramas from 2016 onwards. Chance Perdomo’s TV shows and movies include a controversial trilogy of romantic dramas and a BAFTA-nominated performance in a BBC film. After Everything (2023) is the final installment in the After film series, based on the popular novels by Anna Todd. When it comes to the best and worst Chance Perdomo movies and TV shows, his presence in the After franchise easily stands as his least well-received projects. However, this isn’t the fault of Perdomo himself, but rather the series as a whole. The romantic drama franchise has its fans, but for the most part, was received incredibly negatively by critics and most viewers. 2023’s After Everything, the third After movie to star Perdomo, doesn’t even have a critical score on Rotten Tomatoes, which speaks volumes.
In all three of his appearances in the After movies, Chance Perdomo plays Landon Gibson, a role he took over from Shane Paul McGhie who’d played the character in 2019’s After and 2020’s After We Collided. Of the three After movies Chance Perdomo starred in, 2023’s After Everything is inarguably the worst, though since it’s the fifth movie in the franchise, this is perhaps unsurprising. Still, Perdomo gave a solid performance as Landon Gibson, even if he had little to work with that could have allowed him to stand out.

After Ever Happy was Chance Perdomo’s second appearance as Landon Gibson in the After franchise. The film was shot alongside its prequel, After We Fell, and released in 2022. It’s the fourth movie in the After franchise and stands as a slightly more endurable watch than After Ever Happy, though not by much.
Like the rest of the franchise, After Ever Happy is steeped in soap-opera level drama, though this did give Perdomo slightly more to work with than the 2023 installment. This includes some notably emotional moments, such as when Landon tries to inform Hardin that Tessa’s father has taken his own life. The movie currently sits at 0% on Rotten Tomatoes, though it does have a 92% audience score, showing that After Ever Happy at least resonated with fans of the After franchise, even if it didn’t quite gel with wider audiences.

Chance Perdomo’s first appearance in the After franchise was in the third movie in the series, 2021’s After We Fell. This romantic drama, from director Castille Landon, was received negatively by critics, with particular venom directed at the screenplay and overall acting quality (though Perdomo himself doesn’t appear to have been a target). However, of the three After movies Chance Perdomo played Landon Gibson in, After We Fell is definitely the best.
As with his other appearances in the After movies, playing Landon Gibson didn’t give Chance Perdomo much to work with, though he delivered a solid performance in the role regardless. Given that 2023’s After Everything was Perdomo’s final appearance in a feature film before his tragic passing, signing up to the franchise definitely wasn’t the best career move for the actor in retrospect. His performances in Gen V and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina show that he could have been a much bigger presence in the world of movies than the likes of After We Fell allowed.
5 Hetty Feather (2015-2020)

Chance Perdomo’s career started at a young age, and his first prominent TV role was in the BBC children’s drama Hetty Feather, in which he played Henry Goodall. Perdomo only appeared in a handful of episodes in the shows third and fourth seasons, though even in this limited capacity he managed to show early on that he possessed the talent needed to pursue acting as a full-time career.
Hetty Feather was based on the novel of the same name by author Jaqueline Wilson. The narrative focuses on the titular Hetty, a young orphan living in a Foundling Hospital in Victorian London (though, by the time Perdomo’s character was introduced, Hetty had moved on to become a maid for a wealthy family). The show received positive reviews and was considered a solid TV drama for younger viewers, and it even made its way to the US via the channel BYUtv.
4 Moominvalley (2019-Present)

The Moomins are a widely-recognized franchise that has received several TV incarnations, all based on the Swedish books and comic strips by writer and illustrator Tove Jansson. Moominvalley is the latest TV series to be based on The Moomins, and the 2019 adaptation brought Moomintroll, Moominmamma, Moominpapa, and the rest of the inhabitants of the valley to life with a cast that includes Rosamund Pike, Matt Berry, and Taron Egerton. In season 3, Chance Perdomo joined the cast to play Snork, the older brother of the Snorkmaiden.
Moominvalley was Chance Perdomo’s only experience as a voice-actor, but he fitted right in with the rest of the cast of Moominvalley. Snork may not have been one of the central characters, but he was a recurring presence in the 3rd season. Perdomo’s time in the Moominvalley cast suggested he could have gone on to do more voice-work, as he had no trouble delivering the kind of whimsical family-friendly performance that the show needed.
3 Killed By My Debt (2018)

Chance Perdomo passed away incredibly young, though he still managed to gain recognition and awards nominations despite his career being cut tragically short. Killed By My Debt is a 2018 BBC drama, and Perdomo leads the cast as Jerome Rogers. His performance in the drama, which is based on a true story, earned Perdomo a BAFTA nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role — an incredible achievement given his age and relative inexperience at the time.
Prior to Killed By My Debt, Chance Perdomo had only starred in short films and a few children’s TV shows for the BBC, and even then he’d never been a cast lead. The 2018 movie was a huge step-up for Perdomo, and he made the most of the opportunity it presented by delivering an awards-worthy performance. Perdomo’s Jerome was a real person, a young man who tragically took his own life due to being harassed by debt collectors over two unpaid parking fines. Chance Perdomo more than did justice to his story, and Killed By My Debt remains one of the actors’ best projects.

When it comes to Chance Perdomo’s best TV shows, the debate among his fans over whether his roles in Gen V or The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina deserve the top spot is an incredibly close one. Perdomo was present from the very beginning of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and played Sabrina’s cousin, Ambrose Spellman. The two characters were incredibly close, which gave Perdomo plenty of screen-time and a chance to shine (it’s also arguably the role that helped him land the part of Andre Anderson in Gen V).
Ambrose Spellman was an incredibly fun character too, and one that helped land Perdomo the following he enjoyed up until his tragic death in 2024. A warlock from England, Ambrose started the show under house arrest, as the Witches Council didn’t take at all kindly to his attempt to blow up the Vatican. The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was received incredibly well by both audiences and critics alike, and Chance Perdomo’s performance as Ambrose Spellman and his chemistry with the rest of the cast helped achieve this success.

A spin-off of The Boys, Gen V is based on a story arc from the original comic series set in the TV series universe. Gen V follows a group of college students starting at a Vought International-created school for superheroes, where students compete in increasingly dangerous challenges to win a hero contract in the highest-paying and most coveted city locations. If there’s one role that defined Chance Perdomo’s career before he tragically passed away in March 2024, it was playing Andre Anderson in 2023’s Gen V. A spinoff of The Boys, Gen V takes inspiration from Marvel’s X-Men in the same way that its parent show parodies multiple superhero franchises such as The Avengers and The Justice League. Chance Perdomo’s character Andre was a central character to the plot, and had the ability to manipulate metal at will (in a similar fashion to the X-Men’s Magneto.
Andre Anderson had been set up to continue as a central character in Gen V’s upcoming seasons. However, due to Perdomo passing away, this appears to no longer be the case. As a testament to Perdomo’s performance in the role, Andre Anderson won’t be recast in Gen V season 2, and the show’s creative team have directly stated this is to honor the late actor’s legacy. Gen V was Chance Perdomo’s last role prior to his untimely death, and his incredible performance as Andre remains proof that he would have had a successful career ahead of him.
