The game was originally launched on Windows in October 2023 and was praised for its gameplay but criticized for performance issues and technical flaws. The game was launched in March 2023 at the Paradox Announcement Show, which included plans for additional content packs, showing off the San Francisco Scene, Beach Property Asset Pack, Content Creator Pack, Bridge and Harbor Expansion Pack, and 3 Radio Stations in the Ultimate Edition.
Despite delays and challenges during development, Cities: Skylines 2 received mixed reviews upon release, with concerns raised about performance and bugs. The 2023 Game Awards nomination for “Best Simulation/Strategy Game” reflects the anticipation and interest in the game from the gaming community.

Patch 1.0.19f1 is now available. Keep in mind that simulation improvements may take some time to fully take effect, so give the game some time to run. Also, if there are any buildings repaired, make sure to rebuild them for the changes to take effect.

Gameplay
- Fixed a desktop crash when selecting “Move In” a home
- Fixed a desktop crash when modifying sidewalks that were connected in a certain way
- Fixed desktop crash after modifying roads using civic groups in certain states
- Fixed an issue where the speed graph would not load correctly when launching the game Pause
- Fixed an issue with ResourceAvailabilitySystem that caused some incorrect data when loading games
- Fixed an issue where some industrial material taxes could randomly start being charged in a way that was opposite to how they were set.
- Fixed the issue that the warehouse cannot be upgraded
- Fixed a possible error during save related to XP
- Fixed an issue where upgrading an Incinerator Plant by building additional Incinerators would cause the Incinerator Plant to generate less electricity.
- Fixed coverage of the municipal service building designed for pedestrians will not affect parts of the one-way street
- Fixed an issue with maintenance vehicles getting stuck.
- Fixed an issue where the train and ship vehicle selection information panel did not indicate the correct destination name
- Fixed an issue where building relocations incorrectly changed the Bulldozer refund amount

- Stats fixes and improvements:
- Fixed a bug in the Statistics panel where chart data would not update correctly when manipulating the timescale slider
- Fixed a bug where water costs were not displayed correctly in the Budget tab of the Economy panel.
- Fixed an issue where garbage fees and public transport fees were not recorded in statistics
- Fixed an issue where age statistics were not displayed correctly.
- Fixed an issue where the area selection information panel would display incorrect numbers of inhabitants
- Fixed an issue where incorrect tax estimates were displayed in the economy panel
- Fixed a bug where changing the time scale caused some data to display incorrectly
- Fixed wrong amount in first sample
- Fixed an issue with sample positions not matching in graphs
- Fixed the issue that the progress of the under-construction part was incorrect
- Statistics panel menu items now remember their expansion state based on the selected statistic when reopening the statistics panel.
- Changed the income and (hidden) taxable income statistics type from “points” to “daily” (showing cumulative amounts for the past day)
- Hide the selected home from the info panel and home sidebar until they move in.
- Added an extra data point outside the visible range and used it to interpolate the position of the first point in the chart, thus avoiding gaps and visual stuttering (fixes issues with using only half of the chart)
- Keep data points confined to the chart area (avoid lines extending outside the chart)
- Removed the Budget group as it is no longer needed and moved the Income and Expense groups directly to the Finance category
- When playing with the “Infinite Money” option, the money stats are hidden on the panel
- Reorganized Statistics menu

Land value increase
- Land values are affected by ground pollution. Ground pollution will slowly reduce the rise in land value at first, and when the pollution becomes more serious, it will start to reduce the land value.
- Even if the land is seriously polluted, its value will not drop to zero.
- The value of the land increases according to the value of the profits of the industrial companies.
- Improved parking search
- Adjust the generation rates of teenagers and children to balance the lack of education for teenagers
- Adjusting enrollment probabilities to get more teenagers into high school
- Freight terminal wayfinding updated to reduce traffic congestion when entering the building.
- Forced tutorial page labels to not wrap, to fix layout breaks on some tutorials at 2560×1440
- Increased TLC achievement increment steps from 1 to 1000 and fixed an issue where the achievement progress buffer would only update the achievement if the progress was exactly a multiple of the increment step
- Added a more user-friendly message when the account linking feature fails due to a network error
- Added new translations (missing text, text fixes, translations).
- Added support for overlaying the “Switch User” action prompt for platforms that don’t support switching users (e.g. Steam, Epic), and added support for Steam overlay
Performance
- Added SchoolSeekerCooldown to avoid excessive pathfinding queries when a city doesn’t have enough schools
- Improved shadow culling optimization
- Large city simulation is faster and more stable
- Minor optimizations and leak fixes to pathfinding
- Optimization: Reordered some rendering related systems to reduce waiting in the main thread
- Optimization: Eliminated unnecessary main thread wait in ModificationEndBarrier
Graphics
- Added snow on imposters (trees)
- Change the outline and fill colors of regions to improve visibility.
- Changed the colors of mailbox and bus stop markers. Changed the colors of bus stop, bus line, and route tool icons to correspond to the new marker colors. Adjusted region colors to be better visible in bright snow
- Adjusted road/rail shadows to be less harsh
- Fixed bus shelter icon color and default bus route color to be consistent with other bus route icons
- Fixed visible distance calculation bug (mainly affecting cable shadows at certain camera angles)
- Fixed an issue where the texture of the nuclear power plant’s concrete floor could extend outside the building to form a cone
- Fixed terraforming, support, and pedestrian access on various assets.
- Fixed floating props at Technical University
