While Cyberpunk 2077 has been praised for its narrative depth and stunning graphics, it has also been criticized for inconsistent gameplay and technical issues, particularly in the console versions, which led to it being temporarily removed from the PlayStation Store. Despite the setbacks, the game’s “Phantom Liberty” expansion pack was a huge success, making it one of the most expensive video game projects ever.
Despite the challenges, CD Projekt announced a sequel, Project Orion, in October 2022, highlighting the enduring legacy and potential of the Cyberpunk universe.

Cyberpunk 2077 Gameplay
In Cyberpunk 2077, players will play as V, a mercenary whose appearance, attributes and play style are fully customizable. Players can shape V’s abilities through five custom attributes and three main play styles (Netrunner, Techie and Solo) and master the dynamic world of Night City.
Combat in the game is highly flexible, allowing players to reposition using a variety of moves such as sprinting, taking cover, and double jumping. Cyberware implants installed by “ripperdoc” unlock or upgrade these abilities. The game offers a variety of weapons, both melee and ranged, with customization options, each dealing different types of damage. Players can choose to take a non-lethal approach, using non-lethal weapons and Cyberware options.
Night City is a vast game world consisting of six districts, each with its own unique character. V can explore on foot or by car, with day-night cycles and dynamic weather affecting NPC behavior. The open-world experience extends to V’s apartment, garage, and various purchasable apartments. The game introduces an immersive day-night cycle, dynamic weather, and a sophisticated radio system.
Language barriers with non-English speaking characters can be overcome using translation implants. The storyline involves branching dialogues, interactions with NPCs, and player choices that influence multiple endings. As players progress, they gain experience points and “street cred”, unlocking skills, vendors, and additional missions. Cyberpunk 2077 offers a rich and immersive experience that blends combat, exploration, and storytelling in a futuristic and dynamic environment.

Cyberpunk 2077 Plot
In Cyberpunk 2077, players first choose one of three life paths for their character V: drifter, street kid, or corporate. They team up with local thug Jackie Welles and cyberwalker T-Bug to become mercenaries. The story unfolds as they are hired to steal a biochip, setting off a chain of events involving corporate intrigue, betrayal, and a digital ghost named Johnny Silverhand.
After a failed heist, V inserts a biochip into their heads, triggering unforeseen consequences. Shot and abandoned by a repairman, V wakes up haunted by Johnny’s digital ghost. The biochip’s nanotechnology repairs V’s brain, but sets in motion a process that overwrites their memories with Johnny’s. With limited time, V searches for a way to survive.
By reliving Johnny’s memories, V discovers the origin of the biochip and Arasaka’s evil plans. The climax gives players a choice: attack Arasaka Tower to use the Soulkiller to eliminate Johnny, or make a deal with Arasaka Hanako. Decisions affect the ending, leading to various outcomes, including V’s survival, becoming a legend, or letting Johnny take over. Cyberpunk 2077’s complex narrative and choices shape V’s destiny in the dystopian world of Night City.
