Welcome to the Enshrouded Beginner’s Guide! In this game, you’ll find yourself in a world shrouded by a dangerous fog, and your task is to awaken the survivors and clear the destructive fog. Before you begin, let’s go over some basic steps to get you off to a good start.

First things first:

1. Build the glider:

• Shroud Spores are found on creatures in the cave passages (Cinder Cellar to Plains).
• Gather Shroud Wood by chopping down trees in the Shroud.
• Build a glider and travel around the world. Watch your stamina!

Additional Tips: Learning the Aerial Skill from the Assassin Skill Tree can reduce the glider’s stamina consumption by 30%.

2. Forged Grappling Hook:

• Scavengers near blacksmiths will drop metal scraps.
• Search around the ancient vault for metal fragments.
• Craft a grappling hook to use for exploration and main story progression.

3. Make the magic wand:

• Use 2 bones to make a basic wand for ranged attacks.
• No ammunition required, saving backpack space.

4. Find the survivors:

• Awaken five survivors from ancient vaults located across the Springlands.
• Each survivor has unique skills to make crafting better.

5. Reserve necessary resources:

• Collect wood, stones, plant fibers, metal fragments, salt, and sparks.

6. First construction using the blacksmith:

• Craft the Rise Warrior Set to gain better health and regeneration.
• Level 8 armor is available around level 3.

7. Unlock key skills:

• Spend skill points on Relentless Attack, Powerful Parry, Cheap Shot, Backstab Damage, and Well-Rest to power up your attacks and buffs.

9. Obtain the Howling Blade:

• Found it in the Scavenger’s Stash near the Alchemist’s Ancient Vault.
• A unique legendary weapon that also functions as a torch.

Additional Tip: Use the Wailing Blade to illuminate dark areas.

10. Get runes from enemies:

• Kill the enemies in Shroud and salvage the weapons to obtain the runes.
• Weapons of higher rarity can generate more runes to upgrade.

• Upgrade the Medium Backpack to gain more inventory space.

Enshrouded’s gameplay revolves around survival and exploration in the vast open world of Embervale from a third-person perspective. Up to 16 players can join forces in this action-packed role-playing adventure. Players build bases, gather resources, and craft equipment in the surface world. The game introduces “Shrouds,” mysterious fog-covered areas filled with hostile monsters, where players risk their lives in search of valuable loot and treasure chests.

To thrive, players must manage hunger and thirst, which affect combat effectiveness. Drinking water increases stamina, while food increases constitution. Combat involves using a variety of weapons, dodging, and blocking hostile attacks. As players progress, they unlock new talents and specialize in classes such as Trickster, Battlemage, or Survivor. Gliders and grappling hooks help traverse the game world.

Upon character death, players retain their gear and crafted items, only losing the raw resources they collected. Enshrouded blends exploration, survival, and combat to deliver an engaging and evolving gaming experience.

Hidden Development

Enshrouded is made by the talented team at Keen Games, a German studio best known for the creation of Portal Knights. Inspired by beloved games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Valheim, Enshrouded blends exploration and survival into one. While the combat is influenced by the challenging Soulsborne games, it is intentionally designed to be more approachable, making it an enjoyable experience for players new to the survival genre.

The game was officially announced in May 2023, and an anticipated 8-hour demo was shared during Steam Next Fest in November 2023. Enshrouded was launched on Steam Early Access on January 24, 2024, allowing players to get an in-depth look at the game before its full release. Excitingly, the development team is actively developing PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions to expand the accessibility of the game on various gaming platforms and make it accessible to a wider audience.
