Shrouded Building

1. Getting Started:

• To start building you will need a Construction Hammer. Craft it using 1 Stone in the crafting menu.
• Press TAB or LT to enter building mode.

2. Building materials:

• Craft different building materials at the workbench.
• Create a workbench using 3 ropes and 8 wood.
• Interact with the workbench to get building materials under the Blocks section.
• You start with basic materials like rough wood and rough stone.
• Discover more materials as you explore.

3. Place blocks:

• While in building mode, your hotbar changes to a building hotbar with shapes.
• Use scroll wheel or DPAD LEFT/RIGHT to select shapes, CTRL + scroll wheel or DPAD UP/DOWN to change materials, ALT + scroll wheel or RB + DPAD UP/DOWN to select different building shapes Hotbar.
• Use these controls to place blocks, foundations, walls, stairs, and floors.

4. Make building materials:

• Craft building materials at a workbench.
• Most blocks come in sets of 100.
• Crafting materials usually require resources such as wood and rope.

5. Free Form Architecture:

• In addition to using a construction hammer, you can also build without a construction hammer.
• Select a building material in the hotbar (e.g. Rough Wood Block) and place or remove individual blocks at a time.
• You can also use Building Mode and navigate to individual wall pieces for similar control.

6. Scaffolding:

• For taller structures, use scaffolding.
• Craft them on a workbench using 5 pieces of wood and 1 piece of rope.
• Place scaffolding like workbenches to reach higher areas.
• Stack scaffolding to increase height, especially when using ladder scaffolding.

7. Sculpting terrain:

• Use a variety of tools to transform the terrain.
• Use a pickaxe to dig a hole.
• Use a rake to smooth the ground.
• Use the building hammer in Build Mode and individual terrain tile shapes to precisely control your terrain.
• Try using larger shapes for more complex terrain adjustments.

Stealthy Gameplay

Enshrouded’s gameplay revolves around survival and exploration in the vast open world of Embervale from a third-person perspective. Up to 16 players can join forces in this action-packed role-playing adventure. Players build bases, gather resources, and craft equipment in the surface world. The game introduces “Shrouds,” mysterious fog-covered areas filled with hostile monsters, where players risk their lives in search of valuable loot and treasure chests.

To thrive, players must manage hunger and thirst, which affect combat effectiveness. Drinking water improves stamina, while food strengthens constitution. Combat involves using a variety of weapons, dodging, and blocking hostile attacks. As players progress, they unlock new talents and specialize in professions such as Trickster, Battlemage, or Survivor. Gliders and grappling hooks help traverse the game world. Upon character death, players keep their gear and crafted items, only losing the raw resources collected. Enshrouded blends exploration, survival, and combat to provide an engaging and evolving gameplay experience.

Hidden Development

Enshrouded is made by the talented team at Keen Games, a German studio best known for the creation of Portal Knights. Inspired by beloved games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Valheim, Enshrouded blends exploration and survival into one. While the combat is influenced by the challenging Soulsborne games, it is intentionally designed to be more approachable, making it an enjoyable experience for players new to the survival genre.

The game was officially announced in May 2023, and an anticipated 8-hour demo was shared during Steam Next Fest in November 2023. Enshrouded was launched on Steam Early Access on January 24, 2024, allowing players to get an in-depth look at the game before its full release. Excitingly, the development team is actively developing PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions to expand the accessibility of the game on various gaming platforms and make it accessible to a wider audience.
