Every Louis Partridge Movie And TV Show, Ranked

It might seem like Louis Partridge emerged on the acting scene to play the love interest in Enola Holmes on Netflix seemingly out of nowhere, but that isn’t the case. The actor has been steadily working since 2014 with supporting roles in television, movies, and short films. He has a surprisingly good amount of experience for a decade in the industry with most of his work revolving around roles as a teenager so far.

Partridge has had a lot of back-to-back projects since landing his role as Tewkesbury in Enola Holmes, and he’s continuing to book future projects as well. Lined up for the actor is the AppleTV+ series Disclaimer, the TV series House of Guinness, and a movie helmed by writer/director Noah Baumbach. Until those projects release, these are the movies and TV shows he’s appeared in so far.

10 Boomers (2014)

As Alf

A young Louis Partridge looking at someone out of frame in the series Boomers

Boomers
is his first credited professional role.

Boomers only lasted for two seasons in the UK. The sitcom focused on the lives of three couples who were all late middle-aged and either retired or nearing retirement. Because those characters are the focus, younger generations don’t get a huge presence in the series.

Though Partridge had also participated in short films around the same time, Boomers is his first credited professional role. Partridge only appeared in a single episode of the series as a little boy named Alf. Alf goes with family to a retirement party and spends most of the episode playing on a phone and not acknowledging the people around him.

It’s likely a relatively simple role for a young person just starting out in the industry. It might not have been groundbreaking, but it definitely got Partridge a foot in the professional door.

9 The Lost Girls

As Peter Pan (2022)

Louis Partridge as Peter Pan with a young woman in a field in The Lost Girls

As Peter Pan entered the public domain, there have been numerous new stories featuring the chief Lost Boy and his associated characters. The Lost Girls is just one of many, and it might have been lost in the shuffle. It’s inspired by a novel of the same name with the goal of exploring how Wendy Darling and the other young girls in her family all experience their time with Peter Pan.

While Patridge is charming in the role of Pan, his charm isn’t enough to save the movie, which is why it’s been lambasted by audience members and critics alike. Critics cite cheap CGI in the scenes in Neverland and a lack of chemistry among most of the older cast from elevating the story. It’s also a very uneven coming-of-age story for little girls as the movie cannot seem if it wants to remind the audience of the innocence of childhood or the danger of sexual predators for young women with its very awkward Captain Hook scenes.

Partridge was a great choice to play Peter Pan, so it’s a shame the project wasn’t a better one.

8 Pan (2015)

As A Miner

An imaginative prequel to the original story of Peter Pan and Wendy from J.M. Not many actors have had the chance to appear in multiple projects inspired by Peter Pan. Partridge’s role in Pan is actually uncredited, though that’s true of a great many of the young people who appeared in large ensemble scenes. He appears as one of the child miners in the movie, and fans would likely have to work hard to pick him out.

This version of Peter Pan’s story provides a new origin for the child that never grows up. Here, he’s an orphan in England who ends up kidnapped by pirates. Those pirates are from Neverland and they force kidnapped children to mine crystalized pixie dust for them.

The movie wasn’t well-received by critics, though it did boast a solid cast with Hugh Jackman, Garett Hedlund, and Levi Miller. Chief among the criticisms was casting a white woman to play a character inspired by an Indigenous American as well as the chaotic nature of the new story.

7 Amazon Adventure (2017)

As Young Henry Bates

Louis Partridge smiling for the camera on the set of Amazon Adventure

Amazon Adventure is not a full-length feature film. Instead, it’s a 45-minute docudrama about the explorer Henry Bates. Bates spent 11 years traveling through the Amazon rainforest, meeting native inhabitants, and learning about the culture and wildlife.

Partridge doesn’t have a huge role here, which is true of a lot of his early projects, but he does appear as the younger version of the character, providing a glimpse at who the man would become. The docudrama has been used in educational institutions to teach children about camouflage among animals in the Amazon. It was also distributed to IMAX theaters and museums.

While it might not be the most earth-shattering of Patridge’s roles, it likely played a part in getting a lot of younger kids interested in science and possibly even conservation.

Argylle is an action thriller by director Matthew Vaughn. The movie centers on an introverted novelist who is thrown into the real world of espionage after the plot of her most recent spy thriller parrels the crimes of an underground syndicate. Argylle has a star-studded cast, including Henry Cavill, Bryce Dallas Howard, Dua Lipa, and Samuel L. Jackson, among others.

Argylle follows a novelist (Bryce Dallas Howard) whose spy novels seemingly predict real-world events. When she’s attacked and saved by an actual spy, they have to determine just how to stop the organization that is targeting her. Aubrey Argylle is the spy in the novels she writes. While the character is actually played by Henry Cavill in the movie, Partridge plays the younger version of the character.

It’s not a huge showcase of Partridge’s talents since he appears in a single scene during the credits that helps to link the movie to The Kingsman franchise. It’s a fun nod for fans, but not more than that. If Partridge gets the chance to play the character again, there might be more payoff for fans, but that appears unlikely since Argylle received such negative reviews from critics.

5 Pistol (2022)

As Sid Vicious

Sid Viscious looking serious in Pistol.

Pistol is a British miniseries about the rise of the band Sex Pistols. Partridge appears in the series as band member Sid Vicious. While fans might have found the series fascinating, it wasn’t exactly welcomed by members of the band.

Sex Pistols member John Lyndon disavowed the series, telling The Guardian:

It’s dead against everything we once stood for. The only thing you’ve got of value in your life, and you’re going to cheapen that because you want an extra fiver? Not much of a human being there.

Other band members were willing to consult on the series and allow actors to talk to them about their experiences. So much opposition to the show before it even aired likely led to people looking at it through a more critical lens. While many of the performances, like Thomas Brodie-Sangster’s, were praised, it largely received mixed reviews from critics.

The series didn’t become a great vehicle to open doors to starring roles for Partridge, but it did show some of his versatility as an actor.

The series was removed from Hulu and Disney+ as part of Disney’s cost-cutting measures in 2023.

4 Medici (2019)

As Piero de Medici

Medici (2016) Medici TV-14BiographyDramaHistorical

Medici (2016) is a historical drama series that chronicles the rise of the Medici family in 15th century Florence. Led by Richard Madden as Cosimo de Medici and Dustin Hoffman as Giovanni de Medici, the series delves into the family’s political and economic maneuvers that shaped Renaissance Europe. It explores themes of power, art, and betrayal, providing a detailed portrayal of one of history’s most influential families.

Medici ranks so highly among Partridge’s roles because the series is such a loved historical drama. Partridge, however, like so many of his roles, plays a supporting part here. He only appears in a handful of episodes of season three as the son of main character Lorenzo (Daniel Sharman).

The focus is on Lorenzo’s desire to remain the head of the family and to make sure his extend family cannot take his power from him. In reality, Piero was raised alongside his younger brother and cousin, who both went on to become Popes, but he did not. He was often at odds with his cousins and though he was expected to take over as the head of the family after his father, he wasn’t suited to it. He ruled Florence after his father’s death but was eventually exiled. The show didn’t quite last long enough to explore his story.

When Enola Holmes premiered on Netflix, Louis Patridge wasn’t particularly well-known and Millie Bobby Brown was associated only with Stranger Things. The Netflix original movie, inspired by a middle-grade novel, allowed both of them to expand their audience with a family-friendly tale.

The movie sees the younger sister of Sherlock Holmes set out to find her missing mother and prove herself as an investigator. Along the way, she crosses paths with the young Viscount Tewkesbury who is the next in line in his family to become a member of the House of Lords after the death of his father. He is on the run because his life is in danger, and Enola decides to help him while she pursues her own investigation.

The chemistry between Brown and Partridge is perfect as they are both charming and funny in their roles and play off one another well, setting them up as potential love interests in the future.

Critics would agree that Paddington 2 is likely the best movie in Partridge’s acting history. The Paddington franchise in general has found the rare sweet spot for a family film that has emotional resonance and almost universal appeal. This installment sees Paddington accused and convicted of a theft he didn’t commit. While his family tries to prove his innocence, he experiences time in prison.

It’s a delightful movie, and the only reason it isn’t Partridge’s very best is because his role in the movie is a limited one. He’s the leader of the group of cool kids at school, but his character doesn’t get much to do other than try to entice other kids to join his group. That’s understandable since the focus is on Paddington’s own plight.

Partridge’s best movie still sees him in a supporting role, but it’s a much more expanded role.

Acting as a sequel to Enola Holmes (2020), Enola Holmes 2 sees the titular detective and younger sister of Sherlock Holmes pulled into another mystery when a young factory worker asks Enola to help solve her sister’s disappearance. Unlike its predecessor, Enola Holmes 2 is not based on the novel series by Nancy Springer. The story instead takes inspiration from the 1888 matchgirls’ strike in London. Millie Bobbie Brown reprises her role as Enola, with Henry Cavill and Helena Bonham Carter also reprising their roles as Sherlock and Eudoria Holmes.

Enola Holmes was a breath of fresh air on Netflix in 2020, and it wasn’t long before the second movie was greenlit. Nearly the entire main cast of the first movie reprised their roles, including Partridge as Tewkesbury.

In this chapter of Netflix’s budding franchise, Enola is hired to find a missing young woman by her younger sister. It embroils her in the world of the match girls. While she’s investigating in London, she repeatedly crosses paths with Tewkesbury, the young man whose life she saved in the first movie.

While the first movie is arguably better than the second, Partridge’s performance in the second movie is even better than the first. He leans into the chemistry he’s got opposite Millie Bobby Brown in their scenes together, teaching Enola to dance and about social etiquette in high society. The teasing of the two as love interests is also paid off while Enola solves her mystery. The two finally admit their feelings for one another, making fans even more interested in seeing Louis Partridge in a potential Enola Holmes 3.
