Eight movies in over ten years and fans have witnessed the evolution of Harry Potter and his friends from adorable little wizards to incredible magical warriors ready to take down defeat the darkest witch ever. Characters grow, change, and even die in some heartbreaking cases. In the final flashback, they reveal what happened years later to their children of Hogwarts age. However, only the most dedicated viewers will remember the first and last words uttered by the main characters in the film. In many cases, these words do not match the first or last line in the book. Some of the edits made by WB may surprise fans of the books, but they all shed light on the journeys of the film’s characters.

Fred and George Weasley

“He’s not Fred, it’s me! Honestly, this woman, she calls herself our mother.” – “How are you, Freddie?” Exactly. “Me too.” Fred and George Weasley may technically be two characters, but it’s almost impossible to consider them separately.

Their first and last lines work together as these two talented young men bond…until they can’t. Their first words were when Harry found the Weasley family on the train platform and Fred and George were taunting their mother. It’s a perfect setup for pranksters, but their last line shows how far they’ve come. It’s quieter and more formal, but still conveys what they mean to each other as they try to reassure each other before the Battle of Hogwarts.

Professor McGonagall

Hello, Professor Dumbledore. Are those rumors true, Albus? I’ve always wanted to use that spell.

While Professor McGonagall has many incredible lines throughout the series, her first line in this scene is a bit boring. She appears after Dumbledore leaves Harry with the Dursleys and asks about “rumors” regarding Voldemort’s defeat and the deaths of the Potter family. However, her final line is one of her most memorable lines in the entire series. In a light-hearted moment in a somber scene, she giggles that she’s always wanted to cast a spell to protect the defenders of Hogwarts. It’s a light-hearted moment that adds some much-needed humor to the story.

Neville Longbottom

Trevor! – Harry’s heart beats for all of us and it’s not over yet! Neville’s first words were a bit disappointing as he rushed to grab his stubborn toad as the students first arrived at Hogwarts. It makes him look like a dumb joke, which isn’t entirely wrong. However, Neville’s final line is one of the most powerful in the film, highlighting how far he has come. He went from a boy worried about losing his toad to a young man who stood up to Voldemort and rallied his army when all hope seemed lost.

Hagrid

Professor Dumbledore, Professor McGonagall, sir. -Harry…

For such a prominent character, Hagrid’s first and last lines are surprisingly brief. The first time we see him is when he takes baby Harry to the Dursleys’ house and he just says hello to Dumbledore and Professor McGonagall. Likewise, his last line has only one word when he sees Harry. Both instances show how Hagrid is defined by those around him, which is consistent with the loyal half-giant.

Dumbledore

“I should have known you would be here, Professor McGonagall.” Harry said. “Of course, it happens in your head, but why does that mean it’s not real?” Fans may be surprised to recall that Dumbledore’s last line was in the final film, even though he died before then. However, when Harry sacrificed himself, he met “Dumbledore” in the temporary afterlife and the two discussed what happened. In fact, his last sentence is one of his most quoted. His first appearance is less memorable but still fits the role perfectly as he seems to understand what’s going on without anyone telling him.

Voldemort

“Use the boys.” – I killed Snape! For such an important character, Voldemort’s first and last lines are surprisingly short. He first appears on the back of Quirrell’s head, instructing him to use Harry to figure out how to get the stone. It was a terrifying, strange and unforgettable moment for Harry. His last words were ones of frustration as he tried to understand why the Elder Wand still did not acknowledge him as its rightful owner.

Draco Malfoy

“It’s true, what they say about the train to Hogwarts and Harry Potter. It’s strong, but it doesn’t quite capture my point.

Do you understand my thoughts? Throughout the series, Draco undergoes significant character development. He loses confidence in himself and struggles as he constantly fights against Harry. When he first met Harry upon arriving at Hogwarts, he tried to dominate him and gain his approval.

Unfortunately, his last few sentences before attacking Harry in the Room of Requirement do not reflect how far he has come. However, his final moments at Hogwarts – when an adult Draco silently nodded to Harry from the podium – showed how much he had changed.”

Ron Weasley

“I’m just saying, the Elder Wand is the most powerful wand in the world. With it, we will be invincible. And I’m sorry, do you mind? Everywhere else was taken,” one character says.

Throughout the Harry Potter series, Ron has some amazing moments, but neither the first nor the last lines count. In the first instance, he only sat with Harry because he couldn’t find another seat and neither of them knew how close they would become. However, it is shown that Ron was always friendly and was never too interested in getting to know Harry based on his reputation (perhaps due to his generosity in sharing a chocolate frog …). His last words were to Harry as he decided what to do with the Elder Wand.

Hermione Granger

Has anyone seen the toad? A boy named Neville lost someone. In Hermione’s opening scene, she is portrayed as an insufferable know-it-all – on purpose, of course! However, her first words were an attempt to help. Even though she doesn’t like Neville because he lost the toad, she still tries to find it. This is what Hermione thought when she was there to help. Even though she knew better, she still tried to support. Ultimately, however, her last line shows her taking control – a significant change in her character – when she and Ron ask Harry what he plans to do with Chopsticks. Cold Rice spell. She corrected Ron by saying “What do we do”, knowing that it was entirely Harry’s decision.

Harry Potter

“Yes, Aunt Petunia.” – Prepare? For the series’ central character, it’s surprising that Harry’s first and last lines don’t particularly stand out. His first sentence, in which he obeys Aunt Petunia, certainly establishes his place in the family, and his giving up his life makes sense from a narrative standpoint. But looking back, the line itself isn’t particularly noteworthy. However, his final moments had a stronger impact as he reassured his son on his first day at Hogwarts. The whole speech became more meaningful when he revealed to the audience that his son’s name was “Albus Severus” and reminded him that it didn’t matter which house he was in because it all depended on who he was. . However, the final official line was only a prelude to a much larger speech that pales in comparison.
