How do I find the creeping wreckage to unlock the lightning rod?
Identifying a Creeping Shipwreck
- In Pacific Avenue, the Creeping Wreck is an electrical anomaly that resembles a deformed car with visible creeping motions. It poses a threat to the player’s vehicle as it activates when the player gets close, emitting damaging electrical pulses.
Observe environmental cues
- Players can find Creeping Debris by observing environmental clues, such as intersections with numerous electrical anomalies, usually marked with “Surprising Speed.” These areas are more likely to harbor Creeping Debris.
Explore deeper areas
- While Creeping Debris is present at all zone levels, it is more common in the deeper areas of the Olympic Exclusion Zone (OEZ). Players should proceed with caution and be prepared to encounter this dangerous anomaly.
Use lightning rods
- Encountering Creeping Wrecks is crucial to unlocking Lightning Rods, a valuable tool for managing electrical anomalies. By carefully navigating and identifying Creeping Wrecks, players can earn Lightning Rods to enhance their survivability in Pacific Avenue’s treacherous terrain.
Pacific Avenue Gameplay
In Pacific Roads, players will embark on a thrilling journey of survival set in the Pacific Northwest in 1998. They will traverse the dangerous Olympic restricted area on foot or in a customizable wagon, using the garage as a base for repairs and upgrades. The game uses a first-person perspective, allowing players to experience the immersive world firsthand.
Throughout the game, players will encounter various challenges, such as metal monsters attacking vehicles, weather conditions affecting handling, and electrical anomalies interfering with electronic equipment. They must repair vehicles as they go, find resources, and recycle scrap metal using tools such as circular saws.
As players explore, they discover crafting recipes, blueprints, and interact with non-player characters through notes and audio logs. Collecting energy cores opens gates, but also triggers hostile events such as enemy encounters and destructive storms. Pacific Drive offers dynamic gameplay that combines survival elements with exploration and resource management for an engaging gaming experience.

Pacific Roads was developed in 2019 when Alexander Dracott founded Ironwood Studios. Drawing on his experience at Sony Online Entertainment and Sucker Punch Productions, Dracott envisioned a game set in the Pacific Northwest. Inspired by his experiences driving through the region, Dracott conceived the concept for Pacific Roads during a solo trip that reminded him of his childhood in Portland, Oregon.
Initially, Delacorte considered developing it alone, but as the project expanded, he realized he needed a dedicated team. Seattle-based Ironwood Studios grew during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, with development efforts focused on creating a unique gaming experience centered around the bond between players and their vehicles.
Lead designer Seth Rosen emphasized intuitive game mechanics and eschewed cumbersome survival elements. The team prioritized dynamic encounters and improvisational moments, drawing inspiration from games like Spelunky. Despite delays, development of Pacific Roads was ultimately successful and released in February 2024, featuring atmospheric depictions of the Pacific Northwest and engaging gameplay.
