The game features four playable characters: Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, Harley Quinn and King Shark. Players can choose to go it alone or team up with friends in four-player cooperative multiplayer mode.

When playing alone, players can freely switch between characters, each with unique abilities and weapons. Artificial intelligence controls characters that the player does not directly control. Each character in the squad has access to two weapon classes, some of which overlap with each other. In addition, characters also display unique melee styles and moves.
