SmackDown Live Tonight
Tonight (July 14), SmackDown will air live from the PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina. This episode is part of preparations for SummerSlam, which takes place next month. Some fans feel that WWE needs to give LA Knight more attention and stop underestimating him. While he didn’t win the Money in the Bank contract, some thought it wasn’t a big deal since Roman Reigns was expected to retain the title for a while.
Additionally, there were rumors that Knight and YouTuber Logan Paul might have a match at SummerSlam, but those rumors were debunked when Paul was paired with Ricochet. After “Money in the Bank,” LA Knight was noticeably absent from television last week, only participating in a darker segment of Hit Row at Madison Square Garden. Many fans like Knight and want to see him on TV regularly, so WWE should prioritize him and capitalize on his current popularity.
Although the SummerSlam card is almost full, there is still room for United States Champion Austin Theory’s match. Some believe Knight could be the man to end Theory’s lackluster championship reign, but there are other possibilities. There are other storylines to watch besides the Los Angeles Cavaliers situation. WWE Women’s Champion Asuka will face former champion Bianca Belair for the title, with Charlotte Flair and Money in the Bank contract holder IYO SKY also expected to get involved.
Jey Uso challenges WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns to a title match, but Roman Reigns’ advocate Paul Heyman may have a say in accepting or rejecting the challenge. WWE Tag Team Champions Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn are also looking to compete at SummerSlam, possibly against teams like Street Profits, The OC or LWO. WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez are taking on challenges from Chelsea Green, Sonya Deville and Rhea Ripley.
Other things to watch include Edge’s return and his potential opponent at SummerSlam, AJ Styles’ feud with Karrion Kross, Shotzi’s update after the attack, Bobby Lashley’s absence, Cameron Grimes’ situation after Baron and Corbin moving on NXT, a potential match between the Brawling Brutes and Pretty Deadly and rumors of Carlito’s return. As SmackDown airs tonight, fans will be eagerly awaiting how WWE handles these storylines and prepares for SummerSlam.
