Will Alan Wake 2 be available on Xbox Game Pass?

As of now, Alan Wake 2 is not planned to be available on Xbox Game Pass. Players can purchase the game directly for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S or PC. This may change in the future, however, as Remedy’s other games, such as CrossFireX and Control, were eventually added to Game Pass after their initial launch. Currently, if you want to play Alan Wake 2 when it launches on October 27, you’ll need to make a purchase based on your preferred platform.

Alan Wake 2 release date

In July 2018, Remedy CEO Tero Virtala said that making more Alan Wake games would require approval from Microsoft Studios, which owns the publishing rights. But Remedy still owns all other rights to the series. In July 2019, Remedy paid approximately 2.5 million euros to acquire all the rights to Alan Wake from Microsoft. This helps with the sequel.

In 2020, Remedy partnered with Epic Games Publishing to release two games. The first is Alan Wake Remastered in October 2021, and the big game they announced at The Game Awards 2021 is Alan Wake II. They also plan to add free extra content and two paid expansion packs called Night Springs and Lake House after the main game launches.

Then in May 2023, they said Alan Wake II would only be available as a digital download. They believe that many players now prefer to buy games online, so they want to keep prices low. They also don’t want people to have to download additional content after getting a physical copy. Later, in August 2023, they pushed back the release date by ten days, so now it will be released on October 27, 2023.

Alan Wake 2 gameplay

In Alan Wake II, the gameplay is different from the first game. This is a survival horror game where you see the characters from the outside rather than from their perspective. You can play as Alan Wake or Saga Anderson in two separate stories. You can choose which story to play first, but some parts can only be played as Saga or Eren.

Both characters travel through different locations and fight enemies using guns and flashlights. Shining a flashlight on an enemy weakens them but drains their battery. You have to be careful how you use batteries and bullets to survive. When an enemy approaches, Allen or Saga can quickly dodge.

There is also a detective part in the game. When you play as Saga, you can pause the game and travel to a special place in her mind called the “Heartland.” It’s like a 3D menu where you can see Saga’s ideas. Here you connect clues on the noteboard to solve the main mystery and learn about the characters.

Just like in the first game, you’ll find several pages of manuscripts that hint at what’s going to happen next. But in Alan Wake II, there is also a system where you can choose what to say in dialogue, which will affect the development of the story.
