It introduced an in-game currency system that could be purchased at “Buy Stations” on the map. “Gear Drops” allowed players to switch between custom classes. Cash, the in-game currency, could be used to purchase items such as “Killstreaks” and gas masks, which were obtained by looting buildings or eliminating other players. Will Verdansk return to the war zone?
This is exciting news for Call of Duty fans, with the original Warzone map Verdansk potentially returning in late 2024. While the exact release date remains uncertain, plans are in place to align it with the traditional Warzone “primary map” schedule, potentially returning in December 2024 as part of Call of Duty: Black Ops Gulf War Season 1, following the typical late October to early November Call of Duty release pattern. However, Activision has yet to provide any official confirmation.
Verdansk is known for its dynamic seasons, and has gone through multiple transformations since its debut. The upcoming revival has raised questions about which season it will be themed around, with hints suggesting it may focus on “fan-favorite seasons.”

WindowsCentral’s November 2023 report suggests that the upcoming Call of Duty game, tentatively titled Call of Duty: Black Ops Gulf War, will be themed around the Gulf War. This is consistent with the series’ four-year development cycle, a departure from the series’ usual schedule. The report also hints at unique pre-order bonuses, possibly offering extended early access to the Zombies mode, unlike the usual one-week early access to the campaign mode.
As the release date approaches, fans are eagerly awaiting more details as anticipation mounts for the return of Verdansk and potential innovations to the Gulf War-themed Call of Duty. The four-year development cycle shows their commitment to delivering a polished and immersive gaming experience, adding an extra layer of excitement for Call of Duty fans.
How to Play Verdansk 2024?
As of today (February 26, 2024), there is no official way to play the original Verdansk map in Call of Duty: Warzone. While there have been rumors and reports that Verdansk may return in 2024, this has not yet happened.
The return of these maps is not only a nostalgic tribute, but also a major update that promises to enhance gameplay and provide players with new opportunities to strategize and conquer in the ever-evolving world of Warzone. Call of Duty Warzone gameplay
Warzone is a popular free-to-play battle royale game in the Call of Duty series. It supports up to 150 players in a single match, exceeding the usual 100 players in other battle royale games. The game has two main modes: Battle Royale and Plunder, and has introduced additional modes over its lifespan, including limited-time modes and Revival modes.

In the “Battle Royale” game, players compete to be the last one alive on a shrinking map. They can collect weapons and equipment scattered around the map, and “equipment drops” allow players to obtain customized equipment. The game introduces a unique rebirth mechanic – players who are sent to the “Gulag” can fight for a second chance, and other rebirth options can be obtained using in-game currency.
Plunder mode requires teams to search for cash on the map, with the goal of amassing $1 million. When the timer runs out, the team with the most money wins and players automatically respawn. Respawn mode was introduced in Black Ops Cold War content, combining elements of Battle Royale, where you can respawn as long as one teammate is still alive.
Warzone originally featured the Verdansk map, which was based on the fictional city from Modern Warfare, and an updated version, “Verdansk ’84,” was released in 2021. Another map, Rebirth Island, inspired by Vozrozhdeniya Island, was released, while the World War II-themed island map Caldera replaced Verdansk in 2021. A small island map, Fortune’s Keep, was later released.
Excitingly, the original Verdansk map is expected to return in late 2024, sparking interest and anticipation among the gaming community. The return could coincide with Call of Duty’s annual late October to early November release schedule, possibly in December 2024. Fans are eager to explore the familiar terrain of Verdansk, which offers unique sights and strategic gameplay.
