Kane Brown Early Life
Kane Brown grew up in the countryside of northwest Georgia and later moved to Tennessee. His family is mixed-race, with a white mom named Tabatha and an African-American dad who also has Cherokee roots. Kane didn’t know he was mixed until he was about 7 or 8 years old. This caused some problems for him, like being called hurtful names because of his background.
Raised by his mom alone, Kane’s family sometimes didn’t have a place to live and moved around a lot. They finally settled in Red Bank, Tennessee. Kane went to different schools in the area, like Lakeview Fort Oglethorpe High School and others. He even sang in the choir with his friend Lauren Alaina, who later became famous on American Idol. After finishing school, Kane lived with his grandma, who helped take care of him.
Even though Kane liked country music, he got into R&B when he was in middle school. But it was in high school that he really started to sing country music seriously. His talent shined through when he almost won a talent show with a song by Chris Young.
Kane tried out for TV singing competitions like American Idol and The X Factor USA because his friend Lauren had success on Idol. He got chosen for The X Factor USA, but he left the show when they wanted to put him in a boy band. Instead, he decided to share his music online by posting videos of himself singing popular songs.
