Maze plot
16-year-old Sarah is reading a book called Labyrinth in the park with her dog Merlin, but forgets the last sentence. Sarah rushes home to take care of her half-brother Toby, who dejectedly wishes he would leave the Goblin King Jareth after he gives her his beloved teddy bear.
Sarah immediately regrets her wish, and Jarris appears, giving Sarah 13 hours to solve his maze and find Toby. Along the way, Sarah befriends a dwarf named Hoggle, encounters the friendly creature Ludo, and meets the brave Sir Didymos and his loyal mount Ambrosius.
After facing various challenges and betrayals, including Hoggle’s misguided loyalty, Sarah finally faces Jareth alone. Recalling the last words of the book, she declares that she will free herself from Jareth’s power. Defeated, Jareth sends Sarah and Toby back home.
Sarah realizes the importance of family and friendship, reconciles with her stepmother, and admits that she still needs friends. In the heartwarming finale, Sarah’s room is filled with characters from the maze, celebrating their triumphs and friendships. Meanwhile, Jareth is transformed into a barn owl, watching from afar before flying off into the night.
