Larry David was born on July 2, 1947 in Brooklyn, New York, from humble beginnings. His parents, Rose Julius David and Mortimer Julius David, were Jewish. Larry graduated from Sheepshead Bay High School in 1965 and attended the University of Maryland, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in History in 1970.
After college, he served in the U.S. Army Reserves for five years. Early in his career, David worked various jobs as a store clerk and limousine driver while pursuing stand-up comedy. He lived at Manhattan Plaza, where he met Kenny Kramer and provided the inspiration for the character Cosmo Kramer in Seinfeld.
