Les Misérables to be released in 2024

In 2024, Les Misérables will return to theaters. To celebrate the musical’s 40th anniversary, Mackintosh announced a digital remix and remastering in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. The film will screen for a week at select Dolby Cinemas and AMC theaters. The special edition will be released in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Ireland on February 14, 2024, and in the US on February 23, 2024.

McIntosh played a key role in overseeing the Dolby Atmos mix, along with Hooper, music producer Lee McCutcheon, music director Stephen Metcalfe and mixer Andy Nelson. Les Misérables

Les Misérables is a 2012 musical film directed by Tom Hooper, based on the 1862 novel by Victor Hugo and the novel by Claude Michel Schoenberg A stage musical of the same name created by Claude-Michel Schönberg, Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel. Starring Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe and Anne Hathaway, the story is set in 19th-century France and tells the story of Jean Valjean being pursued by the ruthless policeman Javert.

Now, a digitally remixed and remastered version will be released in Dolby Cinema on 14 February 2024 in the UK and 23 February 2024 in the US to mark the musical’s 40th anniversary.

In 1815, Jean Valjean faced a parole challenge after serving 19 years in prison for stealing bread. The Bishop of Digne shows him kindness, prompting Valjean to start over. Eight years later, Valjean has become a respected figure in Montreuil, but the arrival of former prison guard Javert threatens his secret. At the same time, Fantine, a worker, struggled to raise her daughter Cosette, and her life was in trouble. Valjean steps in and reveals his identity to help Fantine.

Jean Valjean escapes Javert, raises Cosette, and becomes a philanthropist. Love blossoms between Cosette and Marius, setting off a series of events during the Revolution. Tragedy strikes and friends die, including Éponine, who sacrifices herself for Marius. Javert was conflicted by Valjean’s kindness and took his own life.

Valjean, worried about the repercussions on his past, prepares to leave, but not before revealing the truth to Marius. At the wedding of Marius and Cosette, Valjean died peacefully and reunited with his relatives in the afterlife.
