The best Mila Kunis movies and TV shows include one of TV’s most iconic ’90s sitcoms, some fun romantic comedies, and at least one critically acclaimed film by Darren Aronofsky. Kunis is a Ukrainian-born actress who emigrated from Russia to Los Angeles with her family when she was seven. This led to her taking acting classes when she was nine, and she quickly booked television advertisements before moving on to guest appearances on shows like Days of Our Lives, Baywatch, and Walker, Texas Ranger.

However, her big break came thanks to two very different television shows. In 1998, Kunis won the role of Jackie Burkhart in the Fox sitcom, That ’70s Show, and in 1999, she joined the cast of Family Guy, where she voices Meg Griffin. Kunis starred on That ’70s Show for eight seasons, and she still voices Meg Griffin to this day, over two decades later. This led to her role in several romantic comedies, including Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Friends with Benefits, and a critically acclaimed turn in Black Swan.

Mila Kunis became a star thanks to The ’70s Show, and, after a turn in a horror movie and a couple of smaller rom-coms, she got her first big chance in a big-time romantic comedy with Forgetting Sarah Marshall. She joined the cast with another television sitcom star, Jason Segel, in the story of Peter, a guy whose girlfriend (Kristen Bell’s actress Sarah Marshall) dumps him. To get over it, he decides to vacation in Hawaii, only to learn in horror that Sarah and her new rockstar boyfriend, Aldous Snow (Russell Brand), are staying at the same resort.

Mila Kunis is a hotel concierge named Rachel Jansen, a young woman Peter starts getting to know better. The romantic comedy here is Peter and Rachel’s relationship, which is sweet enough, but Russell Brand steals most of the scenes he is in and even got his own spin-off movie called Get Him to the Greek, centered on his character. Kunis did receive a Teen Choice Award nomination for Breakout Female, one of five nominations the film received, although it didn’t win any.

In 2009, Mike Judge (Office Space, Idiocracy) directed the comedy film Extract. The movie stars Jason Bateman as Joel Reynolds, the owner and founder of a company that makes flavored extracts. Much in the same way that Office Space was a workplace comedy, Extract also is, but it shows the work inside of a factory warehouse and the wild things that can happen there that can cause any employee to lose it. Obviously, the theme of dissatisfaction at work plays a big role in both movies.
Mila Kunis plays Cindy, a con artist who learns that one of Joel’s employees lost a testicle in a workplace accident. She then gets a job at the factory and tries to learn more about Shep (Clifton Collins Jr.) to convince him to fall in love with her and sue Joel for damages for pain and suffering. Her goal is to get Shep to share this money with her, while also starting to steal items from other employees at work, causing distrust among everyone. It was a rare villain role for Kunis, but one that she excelled in.

While Forgetting Sarah Marshall was Mila Kunis’ first major romantic comedy role, her first where she was actually one of the lead actors came three years later when she starred in Friends with Benefits. She appears alongside Justin Timberlake in this movie about two pals who have been unlucky in love and decide that they are good enough friends that they can add guilt-free sex to the mix and not have it hurt their relationship. Of course, that complicates everything in the end.
Critics appreciated the movie’s humor, awarding it a 69% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It was compared to a very similar movie that came out the same year, No Strings Attached, which starred Kunis’ That ’70s Show co-star and future husband, Ashton Kutcher. However, Friends with Benefits was considered the better of the two romantic comedies. Kunis received nominations at the Teen Choice Awards and People’s Choice Awards but didn’t win either of the honors.

In 2010, Mila Kunis took on a role in the Hughes brothers’ post-apocalyptic neo-Western film The Book of Eli. This movie stars Denzel Washington as a man traveling on foot across the wasteland of the former United States after a nuclear holocaust. He is protecting a mysterious book that he has plans to deliver to a safe location for preservation. However, some people in the wastelands don’t want this book found and will do anything to stop Eli, most notably a warlord known as Carnegie (Gary Oldman).
Carnegie is a man who rules by fear and holds control by ensuring that the people around him remain uneducated in both general knowledge and history. Mila Kunis stars as Solara, Carnegie’s daughter, who he uses to try to entrap Eli. However, she ends up helping him instead, betraying her father and helping ensure this wandering nomad’s journey is completed. The movie received mixed reviews, primarily based on The Book of Eli‘s major twist that polarized the responses. Despite this, the film was a great parable, and Kunis was solid in her role.

Between her roles in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Friends with Benefits, Mila Kunis had a supporting role in a romantic comedy starring Steve Carell and Tina Fey. This movie was Date Night, where the leads played Phil and Claire, a married couple with two kids who want to rekindle a romance that has become stagnant with a glamorous night out. However, things spiral out of control when they use the name of a canceled reservation to ensure seats at a fancy, only to learn that the couple they’re impersonating stole something from a mob boss.
Believing they are the culprits, the mob sets out after them, and Phil and Claire get much more than they bargained for during their romantic date. The couple they used the names of were “Taste” (James Franco) and “Whippit” (Mila Kunis), and they are mostly in the movie as surprise casting choices in a fun moment. Date Night won the Teen Choice Award for Movie Comedy.

In 2016, a female-led, R-rated raunchy comedy arrived with Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell, and Kathryn Hahn in the lead roles, called Bad Moms. In this film, the three women played suburban mothers growing bored with their lives. Kunis is Amy, a 32-year-old mother of two kids who kicks her husband out after catching him cheating on her with a camgirl. She quits the PTA and goes out drinking, where she meets two other women — Carla (a proudly promiscuous single mom) and Kiki (a stay-at-home mom of four).
They decide to have an all-night-drinking bender that convinces Amy to be more lenient with her kids, and as she starts to make changes in her life, everything seems to start coming together for her until the more uptight mothers in the PTA plot against her. The film was a huge success, making $183.9 million at the box office on a $22 million budget, and while it received only average critical reviews, the audience score was higher, and it got a sequel called A Bad Moms Christmas.

Before appearing in Bad Moms, Mila Kunis got her first blockbuster comedy experience with an R-rated comedy by starring in Ted. Directed by Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane, Ted stars Mark Wahlberg as John Bennett, a 35-year-old man who lives with his jumbo sentient teddy bear named Ted. Mila Kunis stars as John’s live-in girlfriend, and the three live a very wild lifestyle. However, when Lori wonders if they will ever get married, considering Ted is always around, things get complicated.

That ’70s Show made Mila Kunis a star. Shockingly, while the actors playing the kids on the show were all over 18, that was not true for Mila Kunis, who lied about her age, and was only 14 when she was cast to play Jackie Burkhart (via American Way). This means the world got to watch Kunis grow up on the sitcom about a group of friends trying to make it through the wild world of the 1970s. To match her age gap, Jackie was the youngest member of the group, starting as a selfish, immature rich kid.
However, Jackie underwent major changes as the series rolled on, with her becoming a more genuine character, especially after her dad went to jail. That ’70s Show ran for eight seasons and 200 episodes, and Kunis later returned for a small guest starring role in the sequel series, That ’90s Show. Kunis was nominated seven times for Choice Actress at the Teen Choice Awards and won twice at the YoungStar Awards for Best Performance by a Young Actress in a Comedy TV Series.

Mila Kunis is one of the main voice actors on Family Guy and has been for over 20 years. Kunis voices daughter Meg Griffin, a role she took over from Lacey Chabert during the second season and still holds today. Meg is the only daughter of Peter and Lois Griffin, sister to Chris and Stewie, and often seen as an outcast who faces ridicule from everyone, especially her own family. She is often portrayed as insecure and self-conscious, but she has also come a long way in her portrayal over the years.

Family Guy Season 1 Had A Different Meg: Why Lacey Chabert Quit
Lacey Chabert voiced Meg Griffin during the first season of Family Guy before being replaced by Mila Kunis. Here’s why she decided to leave the show.
Posts
Family Guy has been on Fox since 1999, although it was canceled from 2003 to 2005. Running 23 seasons and counting, Kunis has voiced Meg in 22 of them for well over 400 episodes. While she wasn’t the original Meg, it is hard to think of anyone but Mila Kunis playing the role now. Chabert was a good voice actor and has gone on to voice roles in The Wild Thornberrys and Bratz, but Kunis is Meg Griffin and doesn’t look to be leaving the popular role anytime soon.

It isn’t her most popular role, but Mila Kunis’ role in Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan remains the best and most critically acclaimed performance of her career. Black Swan stars Natalie Portman as a professional ballerina named Nina Sayers, who is the perfect fit to play the role of the White Swan in the production of Swan Lake. However, while Nina is perfect for the White Swan, her rival Lily (Kunis) is the perfect fit for the Black Swan, and since only one dancer gets both roles, this causes intense competition.
The film is a psychological horror movie, with Nina starting to lose her grip on reality and not realizing what is real and what is in her head as she fights for the role, often to her own detriment. Despite its difficult subject matter, Black Swan was a commercial success, making $329 million on a $13 million budget and receiving five Oscar nominations, with Portman winning Best Actress. Mila Kunis won awards at the Saturn Awards, Scream Awards, and the Venice Film Festival.
