The player controls Phoenix Wright in two parts: investigation (finding clues) and court trial (questioning witnesses and arguing with prosecutors). There are 5 cases in the game, and the 5th case has been added to the Nintendo DS version.

Ace Attorney: How to play Ace Attorney

Ace Attorney: Ace Attorney is a game that lets players take on the role of a new lawyer, Ace Attorney. Players will defend their clients in five cases, which can be done in any order after completing them once. Each case begins with a movie showing a murder, and then the Ace Attorney defends the suspect in court.

The game is divided into two parts: investigation and court trial. During the investigation, players talk to characters to collect information and evidence. They can examine things in the environment and move to different places. Players use evidence to obtain new information from witnesses.

In the fifth case, players can carefully examine the evidence, using touchscreen controls to rotate and zoom in on it. They can also use forensic testing to find clues at the crime scene. Players spray luminol to reveal hidden bloodstains and use aluminum powder to find fingerprints. Then, they blow into a microphone to reveal fingerprints.

During a court trial, players attempt to prove their client’s innocence by cross-examining witnesses. They look for lies and inconsistencies in the witness’ testimony and present evidence to contradict it. Players have the option of using voice commands or waving the Wii Remote to pressure witnesses for more details or to provide evidence. They also have to answer questions from the judge, witnesses, or prosecutors. If they make too many mistakes, their client is found guilty and they have to start over. Winning a case unlocks a new one.
