Vorihon attended a Catholic boarding school in Le Puy-en-Velay, where he caused controversy by taking communion without being baptized. As a result, his parents pulled him out of school and enrolled him in a school in Amber.
At 15, Vorihon skipped boarding school and went to Paris, where he spent three years playing music in the streets, cafes and cabarets. His talent caught the attention of Lucien Morisset, host of the national radio show on Europe 1, who was looking for young talent.
Vorihon signed a record deal and began a career as a teenage pop singer, adopting the name Claude Celler. He released several singles, including a minor hit, “Le miel et la cannelle” (“The Honey and the Cinnamon”). He was heavily influenced by the songs of Belgian singer Jacques Brel and tried to imitate his singing style.
