Combat involves using combos to take out enemies and is best experienced with a controller. The ever-changing axis of the 2.5D world adds to the complexity of combat, while encounters with a variety of enemy types make the game more interesting to play.
Boss battles are challenging but manageable with practice. Accessibility features include the option to adjust screen effects and subtitles. The game’s soundtrack is catchy and matches the retro aesthetic.

Despite all of Slave Zero X’s strengths, the game can feel repetitive due to overcrowded combat and difficult boss fights. Overall, the game offers an enjoyable experience for action game fans.
Slave Zero
Slave Zero is a video game that came out in 1999. It was made for older computers like Windows 95 and Windows 98. People who wanted to play the game on newer computers had to use special programs to make it work. These programs were made by fans and allowed people to play the game as long as they purchased the game legally. The game was made by a company called Infogrames North America.
In 2015, another company called Tommo acquired the rights to the game and began selling it again for modern computers. They did this through a brand called Retroism. Later, in 2014, with the help of another company called Night Dive Studios, the game was sold on a website called GOG.com and on a platform called Steam.
Then, in June 2022, a company called Ziggurat Interactive (which owns the rights to Slave Zero) said they were making a new game called Slave Zero X. It’s a prequel, which means it tells the story before the events of the original game. Slave Zero X was released on February 21, 2024, and you can play it on different consoles like PlayStation and Xbox, but you can also play it on Nintendo Switch and PC.
Slave Zero Gameplay
The game is set 500 years in the future, where Earth is ruled by a powerful leader named SovKhan from a large city called Megacity S1-9. The only ones fighting SovKhan are a group of ancient warriors known as the Guardians.
Sovkhan has a massive army, and his most powerful soldiers are giant robots called “slaves.” These slaves are created using special technology and a mysterious substance called NTR95879, which the Guardians call “Dark Matter.”
The Guardians have captured one of the slave robots and plan to inject the mind of one of their best warriors into it. This new robot, named “Slave Zero”, will aid the Guardians in their fight against Sovhan. The game follows Slave Zero as he battles Sovhan’s forces in Megacity S1-9.
