Tekken 8 Gameplay

Tekken 8 retains the familiar fighting game style of its predecessors while bringing some exciting updates to the gameplay. Producer Katsuhiro Harada emphasized a more offensive approach that rewards players for proactively attacking rather than defending. Introducing a new feature called “Heat,” activating a state that not only causes chip damage and additional moves, but also changes the properties of certain moves, such as heavy defense breakthroughs. Characters in the “Heat” state can sprint to cancel their moves, providing a strategic advantage. If the fighter uses their moves effectively, the timer for Heat can be stopped.

The game has undergone a technical update, with changes to the “Rage” system, where “Rage Drive” is transformed into “Heat Smash”, a powerful super move of the Heat System. The “Spiral” mechanism is replaced by the “Tornado” extender, which puts the opponent in a ground state. Some stages have hazards, including destructible walls and floors. “Tekken 8” aims to provide a more cinematic experience, focusing on stage destruction and character reactions.

Character models and voice acting are all new, adding a fresh feel to the game. Online mode introduces “Arcade Missions,” a battle lobby with an arcade environment, regular online battles, and tournaments. This mode allows users to customize their avatars using “Battle Currency” currency. TEKKEN 8 uses the cutting-edge Unreal Engine 5, marking it as the first major fighting game to utilize this advanced engine.
