Tekken 8: How to get the bad ending?
In Tekken 8’s story mode, Dark Awakening, players can choose to experience two different endings – the Good Ending (Hope) and the Bad Ending (Despair). This guide focuses on the steps to unlock the Bad Ending in Tekken 8.
Steps to unlock the bad ending
-
Select Chapter 15: To activate the Bad Ending, first select Chapter 15 in “Dark Awakening”.
-
Lose the Final Battle : Deliberately lose the final battle with Kazuya in Chapter 15. Winning the battle will lead to a good ending, so it is crucial that Kazuya wins this encounter.
-
Strategic Timing: Wait until the final stage of the battle, when Kazuya starts to glow red. At this point, letting Jin run out of health will trigger the bad ending.
Details of the bad ending
-
If you fail to defeat Kazuya, a cinematic sequence will occur in which Kazuya throws Jin’s body off a cliff, reminiscent of scenes from previous Tekken games.
-
The story then shifts to Kazuya in the Mishima Zaibatsu’s office, where he vows to continue fighting despite no longer possessing the Devil Gene.
-
The post-credits scene in the Bad Ending is similar to the Good Ending, but its prelude uses much darker imagery.
Experiencing the Bad Ending in Tekken 8 offers players an alternative ending to the storyline, showing the consequences of failing to defeat Kazuya in the final battle. By deliberately choosing this path, players can explore the narrative diversity offered by Tekken 8’s gripping storyline.

Tekken 8 Gameplay
Director Katsuhiro Harada said that Tekken 8’s gameplay is biased towards “offensiveness,” shifting the focus from defensive tactics to rewarding more decisive play. New to the mix is a “heat” meter system that replaces the “screw” damage attribute from Tekken 7. The heat system introduces a heat state that provides shrapnel damage, expanded move combinations, and altered character attributes.
In this state, the fighter can initiate a Heat Smash move, emphasizing offensive strategy. The game features a timer for the Heat State, which can be paused when using certain moves. Defending against a heavy blow or opponent in the Heat State causes chip damage, encouraging players to stay on the offensive to restore health. The juggling combo system is reminiscent of Tekken 6, creating a ground-like state when landing with a quick backflip.
Tekken 8 focuses on creating a cinematic combat atmosphere that blends stage destruction and character reactions. All character models are brand new and improved compared to previous games. The game is powered by Unreal Engine 5, making it the first major fighting game to utilize this advanced engine.
The online mode “Arcade Mission” introduces a character-based combat center covering arcade settings, online matches, tournaments, and character customization using the Fight Money system. With these enhancements, TEKKEN 8 promises to provide both new and veteran players with an engaging and dynamic gaming experience.
