The game was originally planned as an online multiplayer game, but shifted to a single-player experience after the poor performance of Maxis’ SimCity in 2013. The Sims 4 was criticized for its lack of features and received mixed reviews.

Bug fixes
The Sims 4
- Sims should now indicate if something is preventing them from finishing cooking their meal.
- Reward traits earned through the Rewards Shop will no longer allow for multiple purchases.
- Some scene tooltips have been updated to be clearer.
- The “Stab a Friend in the Back” sentiment text has been updated with clearer grammar.
- Critical fix for modders: mods would sometimes call TunableFactory at runtime after tunings were loaded. This would result in a None object exception, since everything is expected to happen during the initial tuning load, and tunings are not expected to be created dynamically at runtime (except for tuning reloads, in which case we disable optimizations entirely if allowed). This change is to have the *register_for_cleanup methods do nothing after cleanup is complete. If this happens after tunings are loaded, the created tunable factory and tuning objects will be garbage collected naturally after they are no longer referenced and needed.
comfort
- Wall tile placement type can once again be switched on controllers.
- Addressed an Xbox crashing issue by improving stability.
Gallery Server
- Reported comments will no longer reappear after restarting The Sims 4 client.
- Adjusted settings for profanity filter check to address false positives. If you continue to have issues sharing to the gallery, please report it to us via this short survey.

season
- Celebrate, everyone! No, actually, everyone can celebrate the holidays again. Sims who were unable to attend holiday events will no longer have this issue.
- Outdoor lovers rejoice, Sims can now fish in Cold and Windy and Cloudy and Windy weather conditions.
Rise to fame
- You can now safely use the game settings to “Opt Out of the Hall of Fame” without any impact on NPC Sims spawning and visiting community lots.

rent
- Rental Income: Added additional information to several relevant UI screens to more clearly communicate how rent for all owned units and any taxes or bills due are collected on weekends.
- Save Bug Fixes: 403:8e5010b7 – Several combined fixes aimed at resolving the current save and preventing this error from occurring on future saves. Fixed references in the Business Manager to areas that no longer existed in the game data; this was triggering a save failure exception when trying to save a previous residential rental lot.
- Nasi Lemak has a more accurate model to represent this delicious dish and the previous visual dish has been added as a new recipe Coconut Rice.
- You will no longer experience getting stuck on Residential Rental lot types. This includes Error Code: 102/122:a0adad34 which will no longer occur when loading.

- It’s getting a little too hot in the kitchen! We’ve adjusted how often fires start when cooking with the ChowBella Portable Pizza Oven and ChowBella Heart-Shaped Waffle Maker.
- Original Waffles are vegan! Sims will no longer get the “Breaking the Rules” moodlet after eating certain Waffle Goddesses.
- The aspirations of market titans and appliance wizards will now count toward the achievements of super achievers.
- Sims who work on making batters, doughs, and lactose-free batters in a stand mixer will now play the appropriate animations.
Gothic Feast
- Your eyes aren’t deceiving you! The Gothic Hoodie from this pack no longer enlarges a female Sim’s eyes when worn. Don’t worry; the change in eye size isn’t permanent. With this update, your Sim’s eyes will return to their normal size.
