Wood Brothers

Known for their fusion of folk, gospel, blues and jazz, the Wood Brothers Band, comprised of brothers Chris and Oliver Wood and multi-talented musician Jano Ricks, has been delighting audiences since its formation in 2004.

Originally from Boulder, Colorado, the brothers grew up surrounded by the music of the American homeland. Their father, a molecular biologist, often played classics at family gatherings, while their mother, a poet, instilled in them a love of storytelling at an early age. These early experiences laid the foundation for the band’s soulful and heartfelt music.

Although the brothers had pursued separate musical paths over the years, fate brought them together in 2001 when they shared a stage at a show in North Carolina. They realized they had a musical rapport and decided to join forces to form the Wood Brothers Band.

Drawing inspiration from blues legends like Jimmy Reed and Lightnin’ Hopkins, and combining their own rich musical experience, the band began to create their own unique sound. Their music resonated with audiences, blending complex harmonies, heartfelt lyrics and superb instrumental performance to create a music that defied easy categorization.
