Valorant Update 8.03 Patch Notes, Chamber Changes and More

Valorant Update 8.03

The release of a new Valorant patch is always an exciting time for players, as Riot Games has been adding new maps and agents and making tweaks to the game over the years. Now, with a brand new chapter on the horizon, they’re gearing up to release patch 8.03, and we’ve got some early patch notes.

Chamber is the next agent to receive some changes, and is reportedly currently testing the adjustments on servers. These changes include reducing the cost of the Headhunter ability from 150 to 100 and increasing the fire rate of Tour de Force from 0.7 to 0.9. In addition, Valorant update 8.03 introduces several other updates.

The eSports feature update now includes a preview of each team capsule in the Team tab, allowing users to support their favorite teams directly from the eSports hub. Additionally, an issue with inaccurate rounding of kills per round in the end-of-game summary in Competitive mode has been fixed.

In Valorant’s latest update, we made significant adjustments to agent balance and mode enhancements to ensure a fairer gaming experience. This article dives into the details of these updates, focusing on improvements to agent abilities, cooldowns, and overall utility.

Agent Updates – Renowned Agent Deadlock has received two major updates. First, the Sonic Sensor ability (Q) has been improved in reliability when triggered, allowing for in-turn recall and redeployment, enhancing strategic gameplay. Second, Deadlock’s Barrier Grid ability (E) has been enhanced, increasing the maximum length of the barrier wall, allowing for better defense and blocking of larger spaces.

Another notable agent, Killjoy, has also received an update. The vision radius of Killjoy’s turret ability (E) has been reduced, which encourages players to make more careful choices about cover, adds depth to the game, and requires strategic positioning of the turret.

Schema Update

In Team Deathmatch, the Sheriff’s loadout has been modified to use a light shield instead of a heavy shield, aiming to create a more balanced gameplay experience and promote fairness and competitiveness between players.

Map Updates

Areas of the Icebox and Lotus maps that are critical to mid and side defense have been updated to increase their value, impact, and defensibility. These updates are designed to create a more balanced and dynamic match environment, ultimately improving the overall gaming experience.

Premier Updates

Valorant’s Premier mode has been enhanced, including the introduction of a new secondary management role, Team Captain, to assist with team management and coordination. Players can now view rankings in other divisions and previous phases, allowing them to track their progress and performance. The qualification threshold for this phase has been reverted to the standard 675 Premier points to ensure a fair and consistent ranking system. Additionally, the EMEA region has been updated to support the VCT Challenger League promotion path, providing more opportunities for aspiring players.

Overall, Valorant’s 8.0 update puts player satisfaction first by delivering significant agent balance and mode enhancements. These updates provide players with a richer strategic experience and enhance the competitive and fair gaming environment. With these improvements, Valorant continues to demonstrate its commitment to providing players with an immersive and enjoyable gaming experience.

Valorant Gameplay

Valorant is a team-based, first-person tactical hero shooter that is coming soon. Players take on the role of Agents, characters inspired by different countries and cultures around the world. In the main game mode, teams are assigned as either attackers or defenders, with each team consisting of five players. Agents have unique abilities and ultimate abilities that can be charged in a variety of ways. Players start each round with a pistol and a signature ability charge, and can purchase additional weapons and charges using the in-game economy system.

The game offers a wide variety of weapons, including sidearms, submachine guns, shotguns, assault rifles, and sniper rifles, each with a unique firing pattern. Currently, there are 23 agents to choose from, and more can be unlocked during the first 28 days after release via the in-game currency Kingdom Points or Valorant Points. In the standard unranked mode (called Unrated), matches are played in a best-of-25 format, with teams competing for 13 rounds.

The goal of the attacking team is to drop and activate a bomb-like device called a Spike at a designated bomb site, while the defending team attempts to deactivate the Spike or prevent it from activating. If both teams win 12 rounds, sudden death occurs. Spike Rush mode is a best-of-7 format, where players start with fully charged abilities and can only activate one Spike per round. Guns are randomized, and players compete for 4 rounds of victory. Swiftplay is a shortened version of Unrated mode, played in a best-of-9 format, with teams switching sides after the 4th round. Competitive play uses a win-based ranking system, requiring players to reach level 20 before playing.

Players can vote to end the match in a tie after every two rounds in overtime. Top tier is a professional competitive game mode for aspiring pro gamers, with teams competing in divisions and seasons. Deathmatch is a free-for-all where the goal is to get 40 kills in 9 minutes, with health packs awarded for kills. Team Deathmatch combines elements of the Unranked and Deathmatch modes, with two teams competing to get 100 kills in 9 minutes.

The game introduces a map select ban system. Escalation mode is team-based, similar to the “Gunfight” concept, where teams advance through 12 weapon levels to victory. Replicant mode allows players to vote for an agent to play as, and the entire team will play using the selected agent. Snowball Wars is a limited-time team deathmatch mode launched during Christmas, offering snowball launchers and power-up gifts.

Brave

Initially announced as Project A by Riot Games in October 2019, Valorant is a unique blend of Overwatch, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and League of Legends. It is a 5v5 multiplayer first-person shooter (FPS) with a primary game mode called Search and Destroy, similar to CS:GO’s Bomb Defuse mode. In this mode, one team attacks by placing bombs (called “spikes”) while the other team defends.

The match consists of 25 rounds, and the first team to win 13 rounds will win the match. Each round lasts 100 seconds, during which players can purchase weapons and equipment. If you die in a round, you will respawn in the next round. What makes Valorant different is the addition of agents, each of which has unique abilities, from healing allies to building walls.

These abilities must be purchased at the start of each round. Spike Rush is another game mode introduced after the game’s launch, offering a faster, seven-round best-of-breed experience where each attacker is equipped with a spike and all players have the same weapons and abilities. Valorant’s seasons are called Operations, and each Operation brings new content such as Agents, Maps, and Modes.
