Ewan Gordon McGregor (born 31 March 1971 in Perth, Scotland) is an acclaimed Scottish actor whose distinguished acting career has spanned film, television and stage.
McGregor’s contribution to the entertainment industry has won him numerous awards, including a Golden Globe and Primetime Emmy Award. In 2013, he was awarded an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his services to theatre and charity.
His journey in acting began while studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. McGregor made an impressive debut in 1993 with the lead role in the British TV series Lipstick on the Collar. However, it was his role as the charismatic, troubled drug addict Mark Renton in Trainspotting (1996) that catapulted him to stardom.
